Discover a unique boutique stay and event venue surrounded by lush gardens and Southern hospitality. Our rooms are personalized, our gardens and grounds are gorgeous, and
you’ll love our modern amenities and packages! Our 2 beautiful Victorian homes were built in the
late 1800’s. The Holbrook family began
restoring them in 1978, and Cornelia Holbrook
opened the Cushman-Colson house as Sweetwater Inn in 1993. Sweetwater now features 29 rooms and cottages, with our
lush Florida gardens complete with babbling
fountains, romantic gazebo, colonnade, and 30 foot in-ground heated salt pool and spa! Every reservation includes a complimentary
evening wine & cheese hour as well as a
delicious homemade breakfast each morning. We’d love to be your home-away-from-home. Sweetwater’s location is perfect. We’re right on University Avenue
in historic Downtown Gainesville;
mere blocks from the University of Florida,
Shands Hospital and Academic Health Center,
and exciting downtown nightlife!

A little more room to breathe.

The Hawthorne Room pairs fourteen-foot ceilings with a king-sized bed, a spacious walk-in shower, and one of our favorite bathroom details: a beautiful magnolia mural above the double-counter vanity.

Tucked into the southeast corner of Sweetwater’s grounds, Hawthorne is part of our Mills-Pound Cottages and has its own private entrance — giving you a quiet little corner to settle into while still being close to everything downtown Gainesville has to offer.

And for those traveling together but wanting a little extra space, Hawthorne sits right next to the Melrose Cottage. Together, they can create a two-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow, with each accommodation reserved separately.

Take the scenic route. Sit a little longer. Enjoy the sunshine. And don't feel guilty about doing absolutely nothing for a while.

ORANGE AND BLUE NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD! 🐊

What a weekend to be a Gator! Congratulations to our Florida Gators on a HUGE 52–28 victory over Ole Miss! The Swamp was rocking, the energy was electric, and Gainesville has plenty to celebrate this week!

We loved having Gator fans fill Sweetwater with orange and blue spirit all weekend long. From the game-day gear to the breakfast mimosas, it was a weekend to remember!

Here's to a winning season and many more reasons to celebrate. Go Gators!
