Get ready for the next great Pavadita on May 12 when we will welcome special Guest DJ Gordon Erlebacher from Tallahassee, Florida playing fabulous classic Argentine Tango that will keep you on the floor all night long.

What a great night for Argentine Tango at Pavadita! We had our highest attendance in a year with great posses from Orlando, Ormond Beach, Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, Tallahassee, Cocoa and Ocala invading the dance floor along with the usual suspects!

Guest DJ Burcin played strictly classic Tango and the the floor was packed the whole night. Every body went home with happy tired feet. Half the crowd was still there dancing hard the last tanda when La Cumparsita finally played.

Many thanks to Amy Allison for organizing the huge carpool from Orlando and all the great energy they brought.

What a great night of Tango we had tonight. We had two visitors from California, one from Orlando, one from the Ukraine, many regulars and several friends we hadn't seen in a while. And a fascinating Candombe lesson at 8:00. We'll do more of that. Thanks to all for a great experience! Merry Christmas to all! And we will have a milonga next Saturday, same time, same place for all you Tango fanatics. ~ El Stevito

This Saturday starting at 8:00pm I will lead a lesson in hearing the basic candombe rhythm and dancing it.

Those of you who frequent our milongas when I DJ know that occasionally I like to play a tanda of Alberto Castillo's candombe/milonga (like the one I linked to here, for example). And most of us dance milonga or some kind of tango.

However that sort of music provides opportunities to enhance the dance taking advantage of both the music's specific rhythmic nuances of it as well as its overall feeling.

During the lesson we will focus on hearing the rhythm and translating it into body movements as we dance.

This week's milonga takes place on Dec 24, which date to many is also known as Christmas Eve. Tango knows no boundaries of any kind and our milonga is consequently secular.

What a great night of dancing and music at Pavadita! Dancers from Jacksonville, Ponte Viedra Beach, Ocala, Tampa, Ukraine, lots of locals and two groups of new visitors getting their first exciting glimpse of Tango. Thanks to all for making it a great night!
