Otterly adorable! The Asian small-clawed otter is the smallest otter species in the world. Unlike many otters that rely heavily on fish, Asian small-clawed otters specialize in finding and manipulating shellfish and other invertebrates. Their sensitive paws help them feel prey hidden in mud or under rocks. 🎥 Cadyn.

Black bear “Sullivan” enjoying some refreshing romaine. Black bears come in more colors than any other North American mammal. They can be black, brown, cinnamon, blond, blue-gray, or white. East of the Great Plains, nearly all are black.

The melanin in black fur makes the fur resistant to abrasion in the brushy understory of eastern forests. Melanin granules are embedded within the hair shaft. These granules increase the hardness and stiffness of the hair, making it more resistant to damage from rubbing against tree bark, rocks, brush, and the ground. 📷 Cadyn.

Discouraging numbers from the wild. More people need to be aware of how difficult and dire it is for many species struggling to survive in the wild. It is critically important for zoological facilities, non-profit conservation groups and governments to collaborate and work together to save species from extinction.

Despite their name, American black bears come in more color variations than any other North American mammal. While black is the most common, their fur can range from jet black to dark brown, cinnamon, blonde, blue-gray, or even white.

“Strawbeary” the black bear coat is considered to be of the Cinammon variety. A striking reddish-brown variation that is most common in the western United States, Canada, Alaska, and Mexico. 📷 Cadyn.
