Continued.....The Lorax....True/False?
I've caught word of a rumor where hunter's have been hired to come in and shoot or thin out the Canadian Geese population... Now I know there certain dates where Alabama has made it legal... Point being it's not FAIR game....We as a city fed these creatures and made them unafraid if humans...Many are not going to have the response to fly away or avoid someone pointing a rifle at them...So basically they been groomed made docile from some of our Blissful society to only be slaughtered....I heard about a community maybe 30mins from here ...where a reader had witnessed while jogging before sunup....hunters at a local jogging track shooting the geese and piling them up in the back of there truck.....Look I really hope that isn't the case with our City...cause that's just wrong ....that isnt hunting ....How much Game could that really be to be called Game? Especially when these creatures thought they were about to get a hand out .... All I'm saying I hope the rumors aren't true ....and we should hold our community accountable even the ones who complain about them but don't speak up or change our current situation...It's just too bad they just don't get the hint to only reside at The Bird Sanctuary.....You decide.....

At least one of our businesses got it right .....Lessly Renna Turner writes...
A lady made a post about a local business denying service to a homeless guy trying to buy coffee, and although she would not name to business, it set off a firestorm. On another note, I was at that Greek restaurant on 12th street when a homeless guy came in asking if they would give him any food being thrown out that they had cooked ( think old fries, burgers, etc.). They told him no, but instead gave him a menu and told him to pick out what he wanted to eat and they would cook it. He said, "I have no money", but the owner told, that's okay, just pick out what you want.
That impressed me, because, they treated him with so much dignity and respect.

Idea what if we as a community had a family reunion for the companies from the past mixed with companies of the present....say Goodyear for a past example....wouldn't it be nice to know where all the employees have moved on to in their life ..? Goodyear played such a huge part of why Gadsden is what Gadsden is....mixed with the upcoming or new generation....

BOLO....The Lorax??? Thoughts??? Comments?
Many of you know my stance on all the banks that have been cleaned up lately etc ...it's a great thing to see changes and a city growing and prosper as so....but at what cost? We have a wildlife sanctuary that needs attention and the geese population has gotten out of hand. I've seen several geese with various injuries from just this year alone Even went a drove one, who had suffered both legs broken and a concussion down to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Orange Beach...Oak Mtn usually won't take waterfowl birds due to the Avain Flu..A lot of people see these creatures as a nussiance....I and many others say otherwise.... Apparently we will be able to kill and bag 5 a day pretty soon ....Is that how we get rid of problem that we ourselves started.......I hope one day people dont become problems in the same way....
Many will feed these animals and in doing so they decide to stay year round instead of migrating. We should take responsibility and accountability and ask .... What can we do to change their circumstances for the better ...My daughter said it best today so I'm taking her words ....AGH ...The words of a child are powerful at times...."Mom it's The Lorax all over again"...No argument there other than being hit in the face by her words like a ton of bricks ...Another follower said it best as well.... Gadsden we can do better.
