📏While Miss Trunchbull is busy cracking the whip and dreaming up new ways to make students miserable, our next student is happy to share some Cliff Notes to help our younger students measure up. Whether it's in the classroom, the playground, or dreaded physical education, Maylee Smith has the inside scoop and she's bringing all the energy to her role and our Matilda stage!

📏Maylee Smith (Student Ensemble) is 14 years old and has participated in several community theater productions. She is thrilled to make her Theater of Gadsden debut in Matilda. 📙As part of our all-knowing upperclassmen, Annabelle Thomas is ready to pass along her Crunchem knowledge whether Matilda's class wants to learn or not. While she's passing along her wisdom onstage, she's sharing the Matilda stage with her dad and her sister, proving that revolting children might just run in the family...along with the drama gene!

📙Annabelle “Anna" Thomas (Student Ensemble) is about to start 7th grade. She most recently performed as Ginny in IYT's production of Puffs. She had also performed as ensemble in CAST's A Christmas Story. She is happy to be on stage with her father and sister again. In her free time, she practices with her electric guitar.

🍏If you joined us for the Toggle Awards, you may remember our next upperclassman who helped kick off our "Revolting Children," and now she's back for more revolting fun. Meet Brooklyn Russell, the snarkiest of our Student Ensemble in Matilda. She's always ready with a quick comeback, plenty of opinions, and lots of sour attitude about life under Miss Trunchbull's rule.

🍏Brooklyn Russell (Student Ensemble) is performing for her fourth time with Theatre of Gadsden, she played Katniss is The Enchanted Bookshop. She also performed in the 2025 Toggle Awards, as well as multiple roles in Puffs. She is very excited for the chance to work with the cast and crew of Matilda!

💚This Father's Day, we're introducing the king of questionable parenting choices himself, Harry Wormwood. Our Harry may be spending Matilda convincing customers that a little sawdust and a lot of confidence can fix any used car, but don't worry, offstage Zach Hilburn is a much more trustworthy and amazing dad than his character. While we celebrate all the amazing dads out there today, we certainly hope yours isn't taking notes from Harry Wormwood...but if he is, we just happen to know where to find some premium Oil of Violets Hair Tonic that makes the perfect gift!

💚Zach Hilburn (Mr. Wormwood) is excited to join the cast of Matilda as the delightfully terrible Mr. Wormwood. Theatre of Gadsden audiences may recognize him as Brick in Escape to Margaritaville or Inspector Kemp in Young Frankenstein. He would like to thank his wife and family for supporting his latest excuse to act ridiculous in public.

🍰In a show where even a cake can steal the spotlight, our next cast member is making sure every scene is baked to perfection. Meet Daylin Smith who is serving up double duty as a sweet mum in our parent ensemble and our less-than-illustrious cook who keeps our Trunchbull supplied with the most infamous chocolate cake in children's literature!

🍰Daylin Smith (Cook/Parent Ensemble) is 16 years old and is thrilled to be part of the cast of Matilda. She has a passion for performing and loves bringing stories and characters to life on stage. When she is not in the theatre, Daylin enjoys baking, crafting, and volunteering throughout her community. 💊Whether he's offering medical diagnosis, or giving Apgar or dance competition scores, our next cast member has the prescription for great entertainment.
