Jason Wilson was more than a city councilman – he was a friend, a husband, a local business owner, and an avid hat wearer. Today, in remembrance of Jason, we asked all City employees to wear their favorite hat in recognition of Monday, August 24, as Jason Wilson Hat Day.

The City of Gadsden will continue to honor the positive impact Jason had in and beyond Gadsden.

We want to thank Daniel and Amanda from The Salvation Army for visiting City Council this week to share the impact they’re making in Gadsden.

Since 1915, the Salvation Army has served the citizens of Gadsden in countless ways. This year, they have served 342 people, and provided 19,186 hot meals to the public.

Thank you to the Salvation Army leadership and volunteers, and Daniel and Amanda for the positive impact they’ve had and continue to have in Gadsden.

The City of Gadsden extends its deepest condolences to the Wilson family and joins the community in mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant, husband, friend, and advocate for Gadsden.

Jason will be greatly missed by his fellow Council members, City employees, and countless residents who had the privilege of knowing him. We will continue to pray for Jessica and the entire Wilson family, as well as everyone who is grieving this tremendous loss.

Today, Mayor Craig Ford, President Alan Smith, and city leadership and partners officially broke ground on the Gadsden Tennis Center at the Gadsden Sports Park. We are so proud of the partnership we have grown with Gadsden State, and we are aligned with the goals to support a quality education, athletics, and workforce development right here in Gadsden.
