Electric Company Theatre, resident theatre company of The Muck, is proud to announce the 2027 theatre season at The Muck!
🚗 Automotion, February 2027: This experience transforms the ordinary Muck parking lot into an unforgettable theatrical journey. Audiences will enter parked cars to experience a short play in those cars, then move to a new car and a new play. With each new vehicle comes a new cast, a new story, and a new perspective. By the end of the evening, you've experienced a collection of five original 10-minute plays that celebrate the surprising, funny, heartbreaking, and deeply human moments that connect us all.
🎸 The Leo Fender Project, March 2027: What happens when an unconventional young mind can see inventions and creations where other people can’t? The world of music is changed forever. An original play for children based on the life of Fullerton local and inventor of the stratocaster electric guitar, Leo Fender, this experience will feature original music and local history brought to life on the Muckenthaler amphitheater stage. This is an exciting, fast-paced, musical production with a great message for students of all ages!
🧺 Oklahoma!, June 2027: ECT will perform the classic Rogers and Hammerstein musical Oklahoma! in a uniquely ECT fashion: We are going back under the oak tree, where audience members will now be welcome to bring their own seats, picnic blankets, or use the provided picnic tables to enjoy their meals and this beautiful production under the stars. In this production, all the actors will accompany themselves on their own instruments.
💉 Eureka Day, October 2027: When a mumps outbreak hits a progressive private school in Berkeley, the well-meaning Board of Directors descends into full-blown chaos trying to create a perfectly inclusive vaccination policy. Spoiler: it does not go well… As passive-aggression turns into a hysterical meltdown, Eureka Day brilliantly taps into the current American moment. Don’t miss this razor-sharp, 2025 Tony Award-winning satire from Jonathan Spector that Time Out New York calls “comic gold."
