HIGH-TECH HELPS THE FOX...One of the things that didn't get completed before the Day of Music reveal was the two "keystones" above the exit doors on the side of the stage. See the gold, oblong frames above the doors? These held a lion's head molding lost in the 1955 molding. Since all we had were fuzzy pics from 1925 we had to get creative. Cynthia Peck had given us a lion's head wall sculpture from Angelo's and Vinci's Ristorante. This was 3D scanned by BCT Entertainment Inc. Then, another theatre restorer Escott O. Norton figured out and designed the bottom part. Then, ANOTHER 3D modeler () put the two together to make the 3D printing file.

The great folks (Thanks Shelley Sun!) at in Alhambra used one of their Makeit 2x4+ large format printers to make the parts that will get painted and installed in August.

Pretty neat!
More to come!
