After Barbara, a member of the Friendship Square Quilt Guild dropped off a generous donation of fabric, I needed to know more about this group! We are still looking for someone special to teach quilting to the Sew Fun community.
The president of the guild, Mandy Loo, graciously gave me a quick tour of what was going on in this lively room of women, laughing, talking, busy and enjoying what they were doing!
They meet Fridays at the La Habra Community Center. They waste no time gathering together to help one another pin quilt sandwiches (see photos) and prepare for their upcoming Quilt Show.
Jan, the philanthropy chair, kindly explained to me (their mission) how they help those in need: comfort quilts for those mourning a loss, heart pillows for mastectomy patients, trick or treat bags and bean bags for CHOC, small pillows for those going through infusion treatments and children in the ER, and so much more!!!
Jan had a small bag filled with samples of ALL the things they give to the community. She even provided me with the patterns!!
This lovely nonprofit group of women giving back to their community in such lovely and creative ways, sent me off with a huge smile!
If you want to know more, see their website: www.fsqg.org
I hope to see you at their
