We're Making a Mural!

The Cal State Fullerton Humanities and Social Sciences Mural Project kicks off this week with a two hour event featuring our first visual artist/collaborator Cynthia Luján.

Date: November 29th

Time: 12:00 pm-2:00 pm

Location: CSUF Humanities Terrace

CSUF faculty, students and staff can RSVP at: https://bit.ly/csufmurals

Come out at any time during this two-hour window to take our community input survey, witness the process of creating a cyanotype print in the sun, and even make your own. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that originated in the mid-1800s and was commonly used by engineers to produce copies of drawings or blueprints. This experience involves using light-sensitive coated paper and water to create a final print. The prints designed by faculty, students, and staff will help shape the artist's final design concept for the wall.

We're absolutely thrilled to congratulate , a MA student, on the successful defense of her Digital MA project entitled "Testimonios through Color and Iconography: Exploring Chicano Park." Veronica was part of the original student data team that collaborated with in revamping our Mapping Arts OC platform in 2021. Her MA project adds value to this ongoing redesign by presenting insightful analyses of various Chicano Park murals from a color data and iconography perspective. Her aim is to conserve and document public artworks while making them more accessible to wider audiences through digital exploration. Moreover, she's keen on comprehending how public artworks contribute to Chicanx placemaking and community identity. Her work will be incorporated into the Version 2 platform that's currently in the works. Check out CSUF's to learn more about Veronica's project in her own words.
