On May 24th, White Mountain Musical Arts presents the annual Memorial Weekend Concert, featuring the Seacoast Wind Ensemble. The performance by the Seacoast Wind Ensemble—a Sousa-style 50-piece band—has been underwritten by retired Air Force officers, Lt. Col. Jim and Col. Karen Umberger, whose generous donation permits the presentation of this exciting concert free of charge. The concert program will honor area Veterans and provide a musical salute to thank those who have and continue to serve in the armed forces.

For more than three decades, the Seacoast Wind Ensemble has performed a diverse range of concert band literature throughout Seacoast New Hampshire, Southern Maine, and Northern Massachusetts. They make approximately a dozen appearances annually at concert series, festivals, schools, and celebrations. As a non-profit volunteer organization, they strive to foster a passion for music. Their membership includes people from all walks of life, from students to senior citizens, amateurs to professionals.

Admission is free. Concert starts at 7pm.

On May 30th, The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season comes to a close with a live transmission of American composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s first opera, a magical-realist portrait of Mexico’s painterly power couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, with libretto by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Nilo Cruz. Fashioned as a reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth, the story depicts Frida, sung by leading mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love, embracing both the passion and the pain before bidding the land of the living a final farewell. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met-premiere staging of Frank’s opera, a “confident, richly imagined score” (The New Yorker) that “bursts with color and fresh individuality” (Los Angeles Times). The vibrant new production, taking enthusiastic inspiration from Frida and Diego’s paintings, is directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker.

Following her acclaimed 2024 company debut in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, soprano Asmik Grigorian returns to the Met as Tatiana, the lovestruck young heroine in this ardent operatic adaptation of Pushkin. Baritone Igor Golovatenko reprises his portrayal of the urbane Onegin, who realizes his affection for her all too late. May 8th - BRADLEY BACKSTAGE with Jed Wilson, Noah Fishman and Brian Shankar Adler
A traveler of diverse roads of musical expression, pianist and composer Jed Wilson is active in the worlds of folk, jazz, free improvisation, and more. Having begun his performance career on the Portland, Oregon jazz scene while still a teenager, Wilson went on to study at Boston’s New England Conservatory, where he expanded his stylistic scope and embarked upon several significant musical collaborations.

Now based in Maine, Wilson explores a multitude of creative avenues. As a member of Bright Cloud Mountain, he helps shape a unique intermingling of West African music and jazz-influenced improvisation. He has released several recordings that explore the myriad possibilities of free improvisation, both as a solo pianist and in the company of collaborators like Tony Falco, Allan Chase, and Josh Sinton. With these projects and more, Wilson can be heard regularly in performance throughout New England and beyond.

Jed Wilson will be joined by collaborators Noah Fishman and Brian Shankar Adler. This will be a very special Bradley Backstage you will not want to miss!
