Massive congratulations to sophomore euphonium student, Alex Frye, on a brilliant performance of the first two movements to Joseph Horovitz’s euphonium concerto. Alex was a winner of FSU’s concerto competition and we are incredibly proud of him. Go Alex!!

Brass Fest was a success!! Cannot be more proud of my students for their work and cannot be more thankful to the high school students who joined us! We had a long day of rehearsing and finished with a final concert featuring everyone involved. It was a wonderful evening of music making and standing in front of that ensemble was exhilirating. Cant wait for next year!

Yesterday we had the privilege of having US Army musician Zac Al-Radiedeh come give our studio a wonderful masterclass. Zac was very knowledgeable and did a great job working with our students!

Massive congratulations to sophomore tuba student, Doug Holtz, on being named a semi-finalist in the Rich Matteson Jazz competition at the 2023 ITEC! Doug has worked incredibly hard for this and has earned his spot on this list! Bravo!!

We're now less than a month away from Frostburg State's annual Brass Fest event! Registration is free for all students and it'll be a great opportunity for them to work with and perform next to our amazing faculty! The date is Friday, February 24th and registration begins at 12pm. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions and we hope to see you and your students there!

On Monday the FSU brass ensemble ended their semester with a wonderful final concert! The program included works by Holst, Shostakovich, and Strauss and there were a number of chamber ensembles that played too. It was a great night of brass playing!

Congratulations to our low brass professor, Mr. Joshua Bishop, on a wonderful performance of Gordon Jacob’s Fantastia for Euphonium and Band. It was inspiring and the band sounded fantastic as well! Bravo!!

Congratulations to the FSU jazz orchestra and combo for a wonderful concert last night. It featured several student soloists and our very own trumpet prof, Dr. Donny Albrecht! Fantastic job!

Congratulations to sophomores Alex Frye and Doug Holtz on a wonderful performance of some Telemann duets! It was an awesome performance from two fantastic musicians. Bravo!

Last night we were privileged to host the Maryland Symphony Orchestra at Frostburg! The performance was incredibly engaging and the repertoire was a ton of fun!
