Project Announcement! Perspectives: Summit County is officially underway! I'm very excited to present this series of blog posts, intended to be stitched together, a few years from now , into a photography book about Summit County Colorado. I will be hiking, jogging, climbing, splitboarding and doing what I need to do to explore every hiking trail this place has to offer, and finding my favorite spots. The ones I really like, I'll be returning to, to grab shots in perhaps even better conditions (and, who doesn't love returning to a favorite, maybe secret place that they've found!) I've explored about 200 of Summit's ~575 miles of marked hiking trails already in 2023 and 2024.

In this first installment, I explore one of Summit County's true gems: the Spruce Creek and Mohawk Lakes hike offers up to SIX high alpine lakes for the photographer's enjoyment, along with some rocky falls to explore (VERY carefully.) I decided the shot would be better with snow surrounding the lake. Did I time it right? Was I able to find the lake, surrounded by snow, before the water froze and ruined the shot??? Very humbled that the Professional Photographers of America awarded "A Wrinkle in Time", an astrophotography image that I took a few years back in White Pocket, Arizona "Imaging Excellence." Check out this week at the Gallery in Summit County!

Andy Oliver is a 21 year-old photography originally from Wilmette, Illinois. He began his journey in photography around the age of 9 when his grandparents first introduced him to the art. For him, photography is about telling stories about experiences to share with others and conveying the beauty of our planet. He mainly photographs wildlife, landscapes, and cityscapes with the hope of one day being able to pursue photography full-time and a dream of being featured in National Geographic.

Photos/blog forthcoming, but I did just complete the "Clark and Brandon Loop" in Colorado's Elk Mountains (with my friend Brandon.). As a tease here's a selfie at the 27.2 mile, 7,700' jaunt's most jubilant moment, for me, summiting Willow Pass on day 2 with the Maroon Bells in the background, from a unique perspective, and a photo of every single thing I lived off of during the 4 day journey.
