SYNOPSIS:
Mary Chase’s classic, Pulitzer Prize-winning stage play Harvey follows Elwood P. Dowd, an amiable, eccentric man whose best friend is Harvey, a six foot, three and half inch invisible rabbit.

When Elwood’s antics embarrass his social climbing sister, Veta and niece, Myrtle Mae, a hilarious, heartwarming comedy of errors ensues at a local sanitarium.

VETA LOUISE SIMMONS
Elwood’s Social climbing sister, very concerned with appearance and wanting to find a suitable husband for her daughter. She loves her older brother Elwood, but finds his eccentric behavior frustrating. (age range- 45 & up)

MYRTLE MAE
Veta’s daughter, self centered, frustrated and worried she’ll never find a husband because of Elwood’s behavior. (age range 18-30)

MRS ETHEL CHAUVENET
Wealthy society woman. an old friend of the family. she is an elite member of the town’s social circle to which Veta desperately wants Myrtle to belong (age range 60+). Only in Act 1

BETTY CHUMLEY
Dr Chumley’s kind and talkative wife (age range 60+) Only in Act 2

NURSE RUTH KELLY
A pretty young woman who has a love/hate relationship with Dr. Sanderson. she is kind, straight forward and looks for the best in people (age range 20-40)

Set in the brassy, bright, and promising year of 1959, Boston’s Colonial Theatre is playing host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage… the entire cast and crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan!

As we wrap up another amazing Kids Academy Spring Season at Purple Box Theater, we are filled with gratitude and pride for every student who stepped on stage, tried something new, worked hard, and shared their talents with us.

From learning songs and choreography to building confidence, friendships, and performance skills, our students have grown so much this season. Watching them shine on stage and support one another has been a joy.💜

A huge thank you to our families for your support, encouragement, and trust. Thank you to our instructors and staff for inspiring creativity and helping each child reach their potential.
