That's the final bow for the cast of Cupcake Murders, a Ballet! We are so grateful to our talented cast, who spent months in the studio working on this production with us; to the audiences who came to support us at each show and stayed with us through some tech problems at the final show; and to the staff and volunteers of the Minnesota Fringe Festival.

We hope our dancers are putting their feet up and eating some cupcakes today!

Our opening night is in the books! We were thrilled to share this story ballet with a live audience. If you missed it, we'll be serving up our cupcakes four more times:

Monday, August 8 at 7:00PM
Thursday, August 11 at 8:30PM
Saturday, August 13 at 4:00PM

Today we're introducing Maria Vitelli, a dancer in our cupcake corps. Maria also danced with PMB in Revolt, Robot! and in the 2021 summer recital.

-Why did you want to dance with Pacific Midwest Ballet?

It's fun--and I need some dancing just for fun in my life!

-What is your favorite flavor of cupcake?

Mint chocolate, gluten free, and if it has colorful sprinkles on top, it's automatically better.

-What is your dream role?

Evita!

-Where did you get your dance training?

I've trained at studios around the Twin Cities, and currently at . I'm also a student at Webster University for dance.

-What do you do when you aren't dancing?

Either hanging out with my pibble Ivy, teaching dance at MOMENTum Dance Project, or coloring.

Next up in our cast is Emily Prebihalo, who will be part of our cupcake corps! We asked Emily:

-Why did you want to dance with Pacific Midwest Ballet?
I grew up being able to perform ballet, but there aren't really opportunities for adults to perform. I love performing--it was my favorite part of dancing as a kid!

-What is your dream role?
Growing up, it was Clara in the Nutcracker at the studio where I trained - BalletMet in Columbus, OH.

-What is your favorite flavor of cupcake?
Chocolate or red velvet.

-What's your day job?
I'm a PhD student in chemistry. Scientists can dance!! (Editor's note: We have at least three scientists in the cast this year!)

Our cast features continue with Risikat Shon, who will be dancing in our cupcake corps!

-Why did you want to dance with Pacific Midwest Ballet?

I'm an adult learner. I love ballet, but I didn't think there would be a space for me to try performing. PMB created that opportunity and is helping me broaden my horizons.

-Where do you train?

I take classes at Minnesota Dance Theatre and Zenon Dance School.

-What's your dream role?

I'd love to be one of the willis in Giselle. It's nice to punish men sometimes 😀

-What is your favorite flavor of cupcake?

Vanilla--with sprinkles!

-What is your day job?

I am head of communications for the City of Brooklyn Park.

I just had a baby in January, and I'm getting back into it!

This week we're featuring dancer Solveig Mebust! You may recognize her from Grand Jeté, our local independent dancewear store. Solveig is performing with PMB for the first time this year, taking on the role of one of three co-owners of a successful cupcake bakery.

~Why did you want to perform with Pacific Midwest Ballet?
I haven't performed since I was a teenager, and I missed it!

~What's your favorite flavor of cupcake?
Salted caramel - with filling in the middle so there's a surprise.

~What is your dream role?
Giselle

~Where did you train?
I trained at St. Paul City Ballet, and now I dance at St Paul Ballet and Ballet Co.Laboratory

~What is your day job?
I'm the Director of Operations at Grand Jete!
