Some amazing work from the portfolio of Artist-in-Residence Cora Armstrong! Cora is an interdisciplinary artist working predominantly in knitting and other textile processes, exploring connections between ecology and the mind.

Cora has a special one-time class coming up this Sunday 12-3pm: Embroidery for Painters.
Many paintings live on fabric, but we don’t often stitch into it! This class presents a cool opportunity to learn several basic embroidery stitches and how they can be used in paintings. We’ll talk layering, pattern, texture, and how borrowing techniques from textile art can inform your painting practice!

Sunday June 7, 12-3pm

Sliding scale pricing and tuition assistance are available for all our classes!

Add texture and movement to your thrown ceramic forms with faceting! In this class, potters will learn how to enhance their pieces with faceting, common in Japanese tea ware and woodfired pottery. Participants should have some experience throwing on the wheel, but you don’t need to be an expert--in fact, this technique embraces unevenness for a beautifully imperfect result!

Thursday June 11, 6-9pm
