Our Fourth of July duo finally have names! 🎆 🎇

Meet Indy & Jubilee! These little firecrackers are named after the holiday they were born on. The female cub is named Jubilee, meaning a special anniversary or celebration. The male cub's name, Indy, is short for independence.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the unfortunate passing of Fenny, our male Masai giraffe. Since May, Fenny had been receiving treatment for a fracture in one of his hooves. The Zoo’s Animal Care and Veterinary teams have worked diligently to treat the injury, including applying a “shoe” to his hoof. During a necessary procedure to evaluate the recovery progress, complications arose under anesthesia and, despite the team’s truly valiant efforts, Fenny passed this morning.

Fenny has been a beloved member of Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s giraffe herd since his arrival at the Zoo in 2019 and served as an educational ambassador for his species.

This is a heartbreaking loss to our Zoo family. Fenny was a key member of our giraffe herd and has had a meaningful impact on the hearts of both staff and guests alike.
