University High Phoenix Players This is the page for University High School Fresno's theatre company, The Phoenix Players.

Our director is Kate McKnight and she's helping us to build a strong performing group. We have two large shows a year, a play in January and a musical in May.

Tevye's beautiful daughters and their lovers! Come see Tzeitel and Motel, Hodel and Perchik, Chava and Fyedka, and Shprintze and Bielke in all their adventures! UHS' production of "Fiddler on the Roof" is running June 1-3 at the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium downtown! We have three evening performances at 7:30 pm and a matinee on the 3rd at 2 pm. UHS Phoenix Players did so well at the Fresno City College Drama Festival today! First, Anna Lackey and Sydney Swearengin started off the day with a beautiful scene that won them both "Outstanding Performance" and Second Place over all in the Contemporary Scenes category! Then, our techies, Mel Johnson, Julia Alfaro, Gianna Castro, and Nikki Alday slayed at Tech Olympics, where they had to sew on a button, focus a light, sweep the floor, and successfully complete a quick change while racing against the other team! They won UHS $100 dollars, and, more importantly, a Golden Bubble Gun that says 1st place! Our improv team, Krishan Joshi, Harrison Silva-Costa, Hailey Bishop, Emily Dack, and Tony Bogenwright finished out the day with an hilarious workshop with one of Blimprov's performers! It was a great day for UHS!

ATTENTION: Sydney Swearengin and Ana Lackey are directing University High's first SENIOR ONE-ACT! The show is going to be Euripides' Helen - Ancient Greek theater in a modern way! The show will run in early April. More info to come!

UHS STUDENTS: We would love to see you come out and audition!
There are going to be two audition days: FEBRUARY 27 AND 28!
The cast list will hopefully be up March 1.
Sign-ups will be on the choir room and drama room door!
