Over 320 students from across the Central Valley joined us for CSC’s first ever Student Matinee, experiencing a professional production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest live and on stage, alongside the extraordinary artistry of the Fresno Philharmonic.
For many of these young people, this was more than a field trip. It was a first encounter with live classical theatre. An opportunity to see language leap off the page, to ask questions directly of the artists who brought it to life, and discover that these classic stories can still profoundly reflect the world in which they live.
With classroom study guides, a post-show conversation, and direct access to working theater professionals, this is what arts education can look like when professional arts organizations engage with students right here in their own community.
This is how we build tomorrow’s audience.
Thank you to all of the educators, students, and community partners who made it possible. To name a few, and along with so many more. Take a bow!
