Cleansing my energy as I share something that has been weighing heavily on my heart. A few months ago, I was given the chance to sell my earrings in a super cute brick and mortar shop. I did my research on how consignment works, and excitedly accepted. The first red flag was when I went travelled (5 hours) to see the shop and meet with the owner, and there was no consignment agreement ready. I ignored this, and left my inventory there, hopeful. Fast forward to now. Many things I was told would happen, just didn’t. “You’ll have a prominent spot in the shop” Nope. Things are constantly moved around. “Inventory will be updated daily.” It’s not. “Payment for each month’s sales will be made on the 8th of the next month,” Untrue. My best friend signed up for the shop’s subscription box in the beginning of August, and has yet to receive it. After being told many times that it was shipped. With all of this, it just gave me anxiety to continue the relationship, when I could be stocking my own online store and not taking the consignment cut. The purpose of this post is not to bash. I mean no ill will, in fact I wish the shop and its owner the best. And I hope things smooth out for them. I simply wanted to share my experience and say that not everything works out, and that’s okay. I know there are others who have had a similar experience with the shop, and being able to talk has helped regulate my emotions about it all. Makers/artists put their heart and souls into what they create, and when things like this happen, it sucks! But we must move on, grow, and learn from it. Wishing you all well. Keep taking chances, and taking up space. ❤️
