This is my book, The Curse of the Blackened Blade! I got the idea while driving to my job one morning. I wanted to make a story like the kind I used to read to my son when he was a kid. Those were some of the best times of my life! He’s all grown up now, so I guess I wrote this for others to have access to the same kind of old fashioned adventure stories that we used to read. I included lots of swordplay, aliens, danger, and heroism. Plus, I hand-drew almost 100 illustrations inside, not to mention the cover image, which I hand-painted myself! My book, The Curse of the Blackened Blade is finally available on Amazon.com! You can find it there under the title I just mentioned or you can search for my name on the site. I’ll also place a link on my website, www.davidjameswillet.com

The Curse of the Blackened Blade is an illustrated science fiction/space opera, and it’s my homage to the adventure books my son and I loved when he was little. The story contains lots of swordplay, danger, and treachery as the characters fight for their survival.

The story and illustrations (including the cover) were all done by myself using physical drawing and painting tools and materials. No AI was used to generate ideas, write, draw, or arrange any part of this work! Help support artists who do things the old-fashioned way!

Yep. It’s always something. I went to do this “quick repair” on my front steps and saw that the whole corner was rotted out. I cut it out and built it all back new, and I thought, “I wonder how bad off this siding is around the corner”, and it was even worse than the steps! The previous owners had plants growing all around the house, and we ripped them all out a while ago. I didn’t know they had caused everything to rot this bad— I had to replace everything! It’s all fixed now, and I did all of the work myself! Time to paint!
