"Homage to Vincent" bursts with sunflowers that seem to sway and breathe, their golden petals reaching outward in a symphony of color and texture. Inspired by Van Gogh's passion and the beauty he poured into his canvases, I crafted each bloom with vibrant yellows and rich oranges, set against the deep blues of a cobalt vase. The glossy vase reflects subtle hints of light, grounding the lively arrangement, while the softly textured backdrop lets the flowers shine unabashedly. Every petal, leaf, and stem feels alive, radiating warmth and energy, celebrating nature's fleeting, sunlit joy.

Today's design reminder: one of the easiest ways to create a cohesive space is by paying attention to tone rather than theme.

A warm wood frame paired with warm wood floors, or artwork with cooler tones in a room that already leans cool, can instantly make a space feel more intentional.

Nothing has to match perfectly. Wood grains don't need to be identical, and neither do the colors throughout your room. Simply deciding whether your space feels predominantly warm or cool is a great place to start.

And don't be afraid to mix in the opposite tone here and there. A little contrast often adds the interest that makes a room feel complete.

I used to tease my father that I wanted to live at Laguna Beach and be an artist. His clenched jaw told me I might want to think again. The closest I got was to have a watercolor of a sailboat I painted at the Newport Beach Yacht Harbor accepted for the student art exhibit at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts. With its Pageant of the Masters, Laguna continues to be a special place to celebrate the arts.
