A year ago, my life changed when I got invited to so the keynotes at a travel writers conference…

I had no idea what a travel writers conferences even was 😂❤️

But I said yes.
Why?

Because my soul told me too.
And guess what?

These are the most incredible people I’ve ever met in one industry.

I’ve made more life long friends in the past year than all the rest of my life combined.

Because travel writing is hard.
Creating content is grueling.
We have chosen the road less traveled.

Literally 😂

These are people who:
- live for purpose and passion
- deeply care
- always offering help
- treat each other like family

I truly can’t find the words to express how meaningful this trip to NY was for me.

That deep yearning we all have to love each other deeply is REAL.

Connection is everything.

These are the 4 areas of connection that I have centered my life around:

New Orleans was one of our favorite cities so far on the Main Street Tour powered by 😍

If you find yourself in the French Quarter you’ve got to stop in and try out their beers made in house!!

They even have a stand set up so you can grab your beer to go and enjoy it while walking around New Orleans!

They are one of the only microbreweries in the city and they also serve delicious food including fresh 🦪

is no different! Art is so beneficial to our mental and emotional health.

Pete the cat is promoting positive mental health messages for kids through incredibly thoughtful and beautiful children’s books.

I grabbed a few for my future kids!

In a world where it feels so much is going wrong, it's important to shoutout companies that are doing things right.

So here's something you probably didn't know about Hootsuite. They continue to make a social impact through:
- helping to rebuild Australian forests
- caused 19.4 tonnes of materials diverted from landfills
- reduced CO2 emissions by 65 tonnes
- helped train 87 refugees so they could find employment
- sponsored the Main Street Tour to help business all across the US
- provides free workshops and training
- has a full week off for all employees for mental health and wellness

There are so many more things I could list, but Hootsuite is a company that's doing things right.

Just like without plants, we couldn't have chocolate cake in our lives (which would be a great tragedy indeed) without:

Who are the hogs???

The University of Arkansas () Fam of course!!

We visited n the Main Street Tour powered by and I picked up the cutest matching pair of earrings and a ring.

This once small business has artwork from more than 40 local and independent artists!!! 😍

Honestly you guys, Fayetteville is SOOO cute and I highly recommend visiting.

They even have this cool alcohol policy where if you get a wristband, you can walk all around downtown square with your beer, wine, or cocktail 🍹

What would you get if tequila and vodka had a baby?

And no, that’s not the start to a joke, It’s PISCO!!!

If you’ve never heard of Pisco before, I don’t feel bad that I hadn’t either until brought some Catan Pisco]] to our Chicago Meetup!

So….. WHAT IS PISCO?

Pisco is a spirit distilled 100% from grapes. Only two countries can legally make pisco, Chile and Peru.

Let's make Monday the best day ever! Share with me what brings you joy =) I'll go first:

My dog Ninja brings me absolute joy. He is the sweetest most wild dog I've ever known.

He thinks he can curl up and fit in any space
He loves to cuddle, especially on my pillow
He gets CRAZY zoomies where he tucks his butt underneath him and spreads his front legs like a total weirdo.
He gets hyped up when I give him my special "mischeveous" look
He doesn't know how to bark only to howl and it sounds like Booo wooo woooooooo
He is obsessed with squirels
He is very scared of rainstorms
He gets nervous when we drive
He loves to swim

Ninja reminds me that I sholdn't try to be anything other than exactly who I am.
All our flaws and imperfections are just as beautiful a part of us as anything else.

What makes so special?

They have received over 500 International Awards for their wines, and their Spiced Wine was featured at the 2002 Winter Olympic Village.

You guys, 500 is kind of a big number 🥳

In addition to over 40 different wines, they also produce a variety of products with no alcohol.

When we visited we had a 100% JALAPEÑO wine! It was crazy tasty.

Their Elderberry Concentrate is 100% pure elderberry with no added sugar, alcohol, or preservatives.

Wyldewood Cellars is a family-owned vineyard and winery located in Peck, KS, about 20 miles south of Wichita, KS.

Am I eating a sandwhich? A sub? A grinder? A hoagie?

What's the difference between all these words we use for 2 slices of bread with food in-between?

The difference is simply cultural distiction.

I know we talk a ton about workplace culture here on LinkedIn. But societal culture is one of the most impactful elements of our life. It influences us in ways we aren't even aware of.

The same way that culture impacts which word we use to describe a sandwhich is the same way it impacts which decisions and choices we make in our life.

YES! that's correct. That means our culture influences EVERY decision we ever make. Whether we like it, agree with it, or not.
