The Olive Hyde Art Guild, a not-for-profit organization, supports the City-owned Gallery through volunteer activities and funding for special exhibits.

Congratulations to our 2026 Scholarship Award winners!

At the Scholarship Reception on May 15, 2026, our seven scholarship finalists shared selections from their portfolios, giving attendees a chance to experience their work up close and connect with these emerging and talented young artists.

Artistic Merit ($250 art supplies gift certificate), High School: Catherine Chen, Mission San Jose High School.

Artistic Merit ($250 art supplies gift certificate), Ohlone College: Alka Sinha.

Artistic Excellence ($500 Scholarship), High School: Emily Huang, Mission San Jose High School.

Artistic Excellence ($500 Scholarship), Ohlone College: Eunie Kim.

Jan Schafir Memorial Scholarship ($1000 Scholarship): Anna Vu, Moreau Catholic High School.

Outstanding Artistic Talent ($2000 Scholarship), High School: Hope Chon, Irvington High School. Additionally, her teacher Summer Jones was the recipient of a $500 award for their classroom art supplies.

Outstanding Artistic Talent ($2000 Scholarship), Ohlone College: Neelu Bhandari.

Hidden Treasures, Local Talent
This fabulous exhibit featuring work from 60 local artists opens on Thursday, April 2, with the FREE Opening reception on Friday, April 10, 7-9 pm.

Gallery hours: Thurs-Sun, 12-5.

Held every two years, this community-focused exhibition invites artists of all ages and experience levels to participate, celebrating the diverse creative voices within the community.

The exhibition highlights a wide range of mediums, including ceramic, textiles, watercolor, oil and acrylic painting, printmaking, mixed media, and more. The artwork will explore a variety of themes and subjects, ensuring there will be something to inspire everyone.

The City of Fremont’s Olive Hyde Art Gallery is proud to present its 2026 open biennial exhibition Hidden Treasures, Local Talent. Held every two years, this community-focused exhibition invites artists of all ages and experience levels to participate, celebrating the diverse creative voices within the community.

This year, the Olive Hyde Art Gallery received more than double the number of submissions compared to 2024. The exceptional level of artistic talent and creativity within the community is truly remarkable, making the selection process this year especially competitive. From more than 120 applicants, 60 artists were selected to showcase their work. Of those selected artists, 26 are Olive Hyde Art Guild members.

The exhibition highlights a wide range of mediums, including ceramic, textiles, watercolor, oil and acrylic painting, printmaking, mixed media, and more. The artwork will explore a variety of themes and subjects, ensuring there will be something to inspire everyone.

The City of Fremont’s Olive Hyde Art Gallery is proud to present Traces of Light and Stillness, an exhibition showcasing atmospheric landscape paintings by Victoria Veedell.

With her collection of oil paintings, Veedell invites us to “slow down, look inward, and experience the quiet rhythms of the natural world”. Her paintings are inspired by real places but move beyond representation into atmospheric “meditations on memory, mood, and the traces of stillness,” harnessing soft light and utilizing it as a language of emotion. Paths and waterways appear throughout this body of work as a metaphor for our introspective journeys. In a fast-paced world, her collection offers peaceful respite – a “space to linger, to breathe, and to rediscover the quiet power of stillness and light”.
