On Monday evening, we had the pleasure of bringing our current exhibition artist, Shirley Guay, to the Boys & Girls Club of Freeport & Stephenson County for a special workshop with some of their young artists.

Shirley brought such a warm, positive, and welcoming energy to the room, inspiring students to jump into conversations about art, explore new ideas, and create their own artwork inspired by her work.

A big thank you to Shirley and the Boys & Girls Club for helping make this creative experience possible! We love seeing the connections that happen when artists and young people come together.

Don't miss seeing Shirley's exhibition, The Third Space, on display at the museum through December.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for Freedom on the Rocks on September 12th as we celebrated the unveiling of the United We Create Mural and honored this year’s incredible Cultural Leadership Award recipients!

It was such a special evening filled with art, music, community, and plenty of reasons to celebrate. We are so grateful to everyone who came out, supported FAM, and helped make the night one to remember.

A few special shoutouts to:

Lead Artist Ben Swords for bringing the United We Create vision to life and helping turn so many community voices into an incredible work of art.

The Highland Community College Big Band for providing the perfect soundtrack to the evening.

Our Freeport High School volunteers for jumping in and helping make sure everything ran smoothly throughout the event - including the Girls Flag Football Team for their assistance in setting up.

And, of course, United We Create would not have been possible without the generous support of the Illinois Arts Council, the US Bank Foundation and The Foundation for Northwest Illinoison for Northwest Illinois. We are incredibly grateful for their investment in this project and in the power of community arts.
