WOW! I am not sure where to even begin! I had hoped to announce this on my birthday 2 weeks ago, but as always with this stuff, it never happens quick enough! First off, the project at Batavia, is no longer going to happen. I want to stress that Mike Lauterborn is a great guy and everything is fine with us. I have known Mike my entire life and always looked up to him as a racer and business person. It became apparent a few months ago that Mike is at a stage in his life where making decisions on what he wants to do with his properties long-term is not easy. As a result of that some details of how our original plan together was going to be structured, have changed on his end, in several ways, and to where it was going to be more difficult for me to work around. It led to me looking to see if there were any other opportunities that were a better fit under the circumstances and sent me on another crazy journey of trying to purchase Silver Springs Moto Park. The past 6 or 7 weeks have been insane! I went from extreme highs of thinking we were getting it several times, to a real low of the owners deciding to go a different direction, and close it to racing. During that time period another opportunity had been presented to me and the more I looked into it the more I fell in love with the place. It has been tough keeping it under wraps for a couple weeks. I am excited to announce a new chapter in my life...I have a reached a deal with Bob Reis to take over Freedom Motorsports Park. I am extremely grateful to Bob and his family for extending this to me. Bob has done a nice job of keeping the place alive and really making the car race events successful as a special event venue. Respect has to go to Mike also, who saved the place from the dead, before selling it to Bob. As many know it has been my dream to have a facility closer to home for years and one that could host multiple forms of racing, like the legendary Ascot! After many close calls and disappointments, I think we have finally found one that checks off just about every box! For car race fans: Bob has agreed to stay on and act as the promoter! Please continue to communicate with him and watch the Freedom Motorsports Park page for information. Business as usual! For those fans and drivers wanting more events, we are working on an additional date or two! More grandstand seating will be added, along with other improvements. For enthusiasts of other forms of racing...GET READY!!! This is about to become to only facility I know of on the East Coast, actually the whole Country, that will now play host to car racing, microsprints, karts, flat-track motorcycles, speedway motorcycles, motocross, arenacross, hare scrambles, quads, TT and BMX!!! A smaller kart track and TT will be added to the car infield, a new speedway and flat-track oval will be built, along with a BMX eventually and yes, the motocross track will be coming back, along with a night-time arenacross and a hare scramble course! We are super excited to enter into a strategic partnership, not only our sisters tracks, Action Park East and Champion Speedway, but also the new ownership group of the legendary Broome Tioga Sports Center!!! They are doing an incredible renovation job there and once our bike and quad tracks are ready, we are in talks to do a triple crown type series between the venues in all disciplines! Major events will be coming to Freedom including TWO rounds of the new NATVA Series, the US Open National Speedway Championships and much more!!! A weekly open practice night for all types of racing is part of the plans! We are going to need a ton of help and support but this is an amazing opportunity and although I am full of butterflies it is very exciting as well! We will be changing the name of the facility to RACELAND, as a tribute to my friend Ron Preston's vision years ago in CA, but for now will retain the current name on the Freedom Motorsports Park page for the car community, as to not cause confusion for Bob. I will be changing the two current Batavia Raceway Park pages names to Raceland Freedom, NY and will post links! I know some will be sad about Batavia and it may be a slightly longer drive but there are probably many who it may be closer for too! At the end of the day it offers so much more it was just something we could not pass up! Sorry for the rant, there was a lot to go over! Stay tuned!!!
