Happy Saturday!! Today is the final full day to see the “Oops, All Landscapes” show in all of its glory! If you have been meaning to see them in person today is the day! Last but certainly not least we are featuring:

“Bright Golden Haze” by Barbara Taylor Hall. Painted in acrylics, Barabara presents a lovely landscape. As in her style, she has a loose abstract approach to her work and this work reminds us when you are driving and the landscape blurs just a bit from you traveling by. The artist also does a lovely job with value and color to create the depth of the landscape.

“Lavender Reflections” by Misty Slimmer. Painted in watercolors, this lovely work features a rusty colored landscapes offset by a soft lavender sky which is also reflected in the water below. We enjoy the quiet that is conveyed in this painting. It feels tranquil and serene.

Happy Friday!! We are going into the last weekend of our “Oops, All Landscapes” show! If you have been meaning to see these windows of our world in person be sure to get here by Sunday! Today we are featuring:

“Wisp” by Penny Mause. This work painted in oils is aptly named, for its broad open sky featuring “wispy” clouds. We enjoy this work for the use of shape and color to define the composition without getting into heavy details. This approach makes for a soft and lovely work of the water, shoreline and sky.

“Look Away” by Laura Spicer. Painted in acrylics this work features a snow landscape scene. This work beautifully captures those long winter sun beams that stretch across the landscape. One can also sense the direction of the snow with the snow highlighting the sides of the trees and road sign. The contrast of the wet, cleared roadway adds to the crispness of this work!

Good afternoon everyone! The show is winding down, and there’s still time to take in these horizons, places, skies, mountains, fields, coastlines, and all the ways artists have captured the world around us. Today we are featuring:

“The River” by Zayn Laurent This very detailed pen and ink depicts a bridge over water at night. The tiny details in this work are incredible! All the lines and marks that create the shapes of the leaves and trees are nicely offset by the use of negative space. This piece reminds us of a quiet nighttime walk in the woods with a full moon, where everything is almost silent. This work has a mysterious element as well, with part of the bridge railing missing and the viewers view point looking into the scene. Is there going to be a secret meeting? A magical creature? The interpretations are endless.

“Cannon at Chatham” by Ginger Meuer The photograph depicts a local historic landmark; “Chatham Manor”. Anyone local to the area has enjoyed Chatham’s historic building and gardens and view of Fredericksburg from across the river. This composition captures the open, cloud dotted sky above the Fredericksburg iconic skyline.

Good afternoon! We are entering our last week of the “Oops, All Landscapes” show. Be sure to see these amazing works sometime between now and Sunday, before they leave! Today we are featuring:

“Day’s End”, “Shasta Rises” and “Humid Day” by Kelly Neisler
One thing that landscapes tend to do is provide atmosphere. These three soft pastels do exactly that, from a warm fall sunset, to a rising mountain and a warm waterway, the artist uses her medium to give the viewer a good sense of the time of day, weather and temperature. You can feel the warm rays from the sun and the cooling of the air in “Day’s End”, or a clear day to view a stratovolcano, and of course the thick air that comes with a summer day on the water.

“Toledo” and “Zakopane” by William O’Connor These landscapes are painted in oils also provide us with an atmospheric experience when view the works. “Toledo” provides the viewer with a still and calm scene of a small bridge over water. The reflection and use of blending make this quiet scene feel moody and serene. “Zakopane” also offers up a serene landscape, and one can imagine taking the road in this lovely landscape.

Happy Saturday! We are finishing up another amazing week with of the “Oops, All Landscapes” show. Today we are featuring some landscapes the are water centered and places we can visit!

“Wrightsville Beach” by Lynne Mulhern This seascape is painted in oils and takes us to North Carolina! This lovely piece seems to catch a sunrise with some cloudy conditions which makes for lovely dappled colors of light all through the composition. We especially enjoy the serene feeling of the calm ocean and the quiet of the morning.

“I Still Dream of Oregon”, “Fishercap Lake” and “Lilies on Ni Reservoir” by Ayesha Kahn All three of these works are painted in oils. “I Still Dream…..” takes the viewer to the Oregon coast for a moody beach scene. We enjoy that the viewer is actually in the water looking along the coastline, taking in the clouds and light. One could almost feel the waves gently hitting one’s ankles. “Fishercap..” takes us to Montana! The lake features that amazing translucent blue that one sees in glacial lakes, which shows the rust colored reds that make up the shore and the base of the lake, as the Lewis Range looms in the distance. We are intrigued by the movement of the water around the prominently placed rock in the foreground of the composition. “Lilies on ….” The artist now brings us home to Virginia as they capture a quiet scene of lilies and the surrounding shore at a local reservoir. We love how green and fresh this work is.

Happy Friday! Are landscapes in your weekend plans? If so we have an amazing show “Oops, All Landscapes” that will help check that item off your list! Today we are featuring:

“Yosemite” by Saeed Ordoubadi . This highly textured landscape is painted in acrylic and features a breathtaking view in Yosemite National Park, with its granite peaks and flowing waters. The artists use of texture in the paint creates the illusion of a turbulent moving water in the foreground and the smoother paint of the peaks creates the distance and size of the location. We love how fresh and inviting this work is!

“Evening Walk” and “Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach, OR” by Alice Crane. Both of these compositions are painted in oils. “Evening Walk” features a colorful fall/winter sunset. The purple skies contrast with the ochre fields and the leafless trees are silhouetted by the glowing colors of the sky. “Haystack Rock,…” features the iconic rock outcroppings the you see along the Oregon coast! This work captures the misty, rainy atmosphere that is typical of Oregon. All the rocks on the beach makes us want to lookfor creatures in the tide pools!

“Spring” and “Tiny Pond” by Mary Hall .These petite acrylic paintings features flowery fields in full bloom. We enjoy the bright colors and the delicate paint marks the artist uses to create the textures, movement and flowers in the work. They feel sunny and inviting!
