LibertyTown Arts Workshop is a 13,000 square foot gallery with over 40 local craftspeople and artists. Here our artists create and show right on site in 27+ active studio spaces. We have potters, wood workers, welders, blacksmiths, oil painters, pastel artists, water colorists, and fiber art. As if that wasn't enough, we also offer CLASSES in:

Coming soon: An outdoor courtyard with a blacksmithy and an area for moonlight concerts!! We love this place and hope you will too! Want some more history?? LibertyTown Arts Workshop was founded in 2002 by famed local potter Dan Finnegan, and changed hands in July 2013. The new husband and wife duo of Dolores and Kenneth Lecky are both artists in their own right (a potter and a photographer). They are working hard to add new classes, revamp the courtyard and paint a huge mural on the back of the building! Fun Fact: The building that houses our 40+ artists was once the plumbing annex of the Fredericksburg Hardware store...and we have the kooky floor tiles and wall sconces to prove it! Meet the Business Owner: D.D. and Kenneth!! and Kenneth are the new owners of LibertyTown Arts Workshop. They purchased the business in 2013 and are working hard to build the class schedule, revamp the courtyard and add a huge mural to the backside of the building facing William Street. The two met while attending UVA in 2002 and bonded over their love of art and science...and dogs ( they have three!). is a potter and a commercial property manager who brings business and art together whenever she can. Kenneth is a photographer and software engineer who is using his computer skills to push us into the 21th century!

Color has a way of bringing joy, sparking memories and inspiring wonder! Our “Dazzling Color” exhibition does just that and more! Today we are featuring:

“Color on a Rainy Day” by Linda Larochelle. This large Linocut is hand painted and features a young person in a crowd with their very colorful umbrella. We enjoy the candid moment vibe: they seem caught in the moment. We love all the colors and patterns that are featured throughout the piece from their dress, the different sides of the umbrella, to the people in the background.

“Sunset at Potomac Landing” by Saeed Ordoubadi. This pen and pencil pastel work features an amazing sunset over the Potomac river. We love the rainbow of colors that fill the sky, in this more colorful, yet quiet work. We can just feel the calm of the day closing and the awe of nature.

“Self Portrait “ by Olivia Kukahiko. This fun acrylic painting features a portrait of the artist. The colors and use of directional lighting paired with the solid black background really make the colors vibrant. The color palette feels like a prism, with oranges fading into purples and yellows into blues.

Be sure to visit these and all the works in person at LibertyTown or 24/7 on our “Shop” or “In the Gallery” pages on our website!

Good morning! We are entering the second full week of our “Dazzling Color” exhibit, and we just love these works and sharing with them with you! Today we are featuring three works:

“Praying Mantis” by Maria Terra. This acrylic painting features a vibrant green praying mantis, that feels like we caught him off guard on his fall landscape. We enjoy the contrast of bold colors that play to really bring the viewers attention to the mantis.

“Chance” by Lisa Schultz. This oil painting features an almost deconstructed abstract of a person trying their luck at a game of dice. The gambler feels hyper focused, and all the vibrant colors moving around him to create him and his environment are colorful and bright like the interior of a casino.

“Pretty in Pink” by Christy Goins This work also painted in oils, is a hyper-realistic composition of a classic feeling “blond bombshell” portraits of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe or Debbie Harry. The colors of this work are electric and work in together to make the other colors just as intense.

You have made it!!! It’s the weekend!!! Be sure to plan to stop on by and see our “Dazzling Color” exhibit and experience of the vibrant and diverse works. Today we are featuring a few selections:

“Pretty Bird” by Svetlana Lechkina .lechkina . This amazing and colorful bird is made entirely with strips of paper!!!! We just love the design choices in the paper manipulation that mimic the shape and fluffiness of the feathers! This piece is a definite in person piece to really experience the intricacies of the quilling!

“Gwen, Garrit and Garth” by Angel Tighe . This acrylic painting features some very fun and very chill giraffes with their fur patterns all aglow with vibrant primary colors. They have the cool folks have shown up to the party vibes, and we love the playful and whimsical approach to the work.

“A River of Confetti” by Cecilia Peters This cotton candy colored landscape is like something out of a dream (we also believe the giraffes from the previous painting live there). Painted in acrylics we enjoy that the trees, ground cover and rocks all seem to painted in fluffy bright colors, adding to the surreal felling of the composition.

Good Morning and Happy Friday!!! The weekend is here and it’s a bit steamy outside, but we have cool art and spaces to beat the heat! This month we are featuring amazing works in our “Dazzling Colors” exhibit! Today we are featuring:

“Mind Blowing Decisions” by Erika James-Jackson. In her first show ever( and coming out of the gate running) this amazing portrait features a stylized person defined by waves of color. We just love how this piece uses color blocking to define and create the features and hair of the person while embracing an abstract vibe.

“Frida” by Mary Kenyon . Speaking of amazing portraits, this entirely made of fabric portrait of Frida Kahlo is just incredible. This large sized work captures her spirit and larger than life personality!!

“Birds of Paradise” by Danette Taylor is a vibrant yet subtle oil painting of the flowers as titled. The dark background sets the greens and oranges forward and we enjoy the delicate raindrops that surround the flowers. We can almost smell the warm summer rain!!

This month we are celebrating everything colorful, bright and joyful with our “Dazzling Color” exhibit. All month long we hope to “dazzle” you with the works we feature here! Today’s featured works are:

“Gourdgeously Proud” by Emalee Owen’s . This lovely sculpture is a gourd that has been painted with alcohol inks and then the rim has been woven with sea grass to finish out the opening. This quiet piece is a celebration of color.

“Op Art Globe Painting” and “GEM” by Eric May . These acrylic op art pieces really pack a punch of color and design. Painted with bold neons and grounded with more subtle color tones, these works features visual layers of designs that make the works move your eye around trying to determine what is forward and what is back.

“My Wife” by Willard Peters. This abstract piece features flowing acrylic colors set in resin. The way the acrylic flows and bubbles, making delicate and intricate patterns, is fascinating and the longer a viewer engages with it the more small details emerge in colorful patterns.

“Coffee First. Everything Else Second” and “This Rounds on Me!” By Tanya Green. . Tanya’s wheel house is color, and we love how she capture’s color and light in the reflection of items. Her attention to detail really sets the extraordinary ex*****on of these works. It feels like you find a new color or reflected pattern every time you look at the works!

“Taos, Remembered” by Barbara Taylor Hall. Next up in our display of colors is this wonderful abstract. We love how she used blocks of colors that are reminiscent of the adobe structures. The colors also highlight the rich artistic community of the area.

“Cool Jack” and “Dapper Dawg” by Al Littek . These two works explore painting with the additional element of light. These works feature anthropomorphic dogs, and their extraordinary personalities. These works capture what we would think our pets vibes would be, if the woke up one day and started talking and selecting their attire. These works also have a nice modern vibe with the addition of the neon eyewear!

Good morning!! Today we are featuring several works in our “Dazzling Color” exhibit. All month long we will be featuring all the awesome artists and their pieces!

“Hi! You Are Being Watched” by Rebecca Visger . This acrylic painting features an abstracted view of the front of a home. The more you look at this work the more details about being “watched” appear, from multiple cameras to people peering from windows.

“Sky, Sand and Surf” and “Jester’s Cap” by Jill Chesnut. These lovely ceramic have two lovely approaches in their use of color. “Sky, Sand and Surf” features colorful yet soft bands moving around the vessel representing the title. “Jester’s Cap” is more playful in its color block approach and its bright yellow interior.

“Who Are You?” By Tarver Harris .This abstract work features intense orange fields of color complimented by soft blues and frenetic mark marking. This piece has a calmness mixed with a busy energy.
