Today we take a look back to Negro Leagues' Hall of Fame legends from 1916, 1924, and 1937 with a glimpse at a mock-up using our 'color extract' layers from previously completed images to composite something new and unique. Composited the "old-fashioned" way...manually. One layer at a time (9 layers). The possibilities are endless! Today we look back to 1919 at Chicago's Comiskey Park to bring White Sox 3rd Baseman Buck Weaver to life in color. Over his right shoulder is HOF'er 2nd Baseman Eddie Collins, and over his left is Right Fielder Shano Collins. Known for his defense, Weaver also had a solid year at the plate hitting .296 for the AL Champions and only striking out 21 times in 622 plate appearances. Thank you all so much for another year of supporting our work. We are now 3 years into our rebranding (formerly ManCave Pictures 2015-2023). We are constantly expanding our catalog of sports legends we have brought to life in color and throughout this time we have often been asked what we do and how we create our images. Well...

WHAT WE DO
The legendary photographers of long ago could only capture a monochrome view of our sports heroes in action. In reality, they were all playing in color. So, we work every day to respectfully bring the colors they all saw in their viewfinders to life to be seen again as never before since.

We can even extract those legends from the original photo background to create images like the one you see below. A very cool and colorful look back 89 years at HOF'er Martín Dihigo on the mound for El Águila de Veracruz.

HOW WE DO IT
We carefully integrate dozens of varying and detailed steps to achieve the outcome you see. Beginning with exhaustive historical research into the players, teams, and colors, we then apply 30+ years of experience with intricate photoshop techniques and processes. Using our Wacom tablets we painstakingly repair the originals and digitally color the images. Layer... by layer... by layer. Finally, we creatively apply state-of-the-art AI refining tools to produce these very exciting and enjoyable images.

We love what we do. Thank you for your continued friendship and support. National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Negro Leagues Baseball Museum GroveWood Baseball Museum Anyone's Game

Today we take a look back in color to September 1920 at Chicago's Comiskey Park when a young slugger (now with the Yankees) took the opportunity to sit down with his hero to talk hitting. For the 1920 season Babe hit .376 with 54 HRs, 135 RBI and a 1.379 OPS! Shoeless Joe "only" hit .382 with 12 HRs, 121 RBI and an OPS of 1.033! What do you think they were sharing with each other?!
