December 19, 2025 is when I started this 24” X 36” oil painting. July 23, 2026. Two-hundred and seventeen days, I worked on this painting on and off. When it was finally complete, I left it drying on an easel. I walked back in to find that my almost 4 year old little artist, Stone, had added his own art over the tree on the left side. I decided to have him sign it instead of painting over his art.
So, here is “Shift” by Amelia Presley & Stone Presley McEwen.
This painting has a lot of meaning in it. The girl has walked through mud and finally collapses to the ground as rain pours on her. Her umbrella is tilted to block the sun. Often times, we have the tools needed to block the rain, the darkness, the negativity. But, instead, we block out the sun, the light, the positivity. All it takes is a simple shift of our umbrella to change our world.
