Evolving Art Machine Art Studio & Lyceum is... an art studio... and lyceum. We have an open sales floor also where we sell original art, prints, clothes, shoes, and all manner of thingamajiggery. We are also an experimental music venue... so there's that. We're right across from Brock's on Sophia Street in Downtown Fredericksburg so come on down.

No First Friday at EAM this month. One of us has a severe migraine and the other is stuck at their day job until whoknows o’clock. Sorry for the late notice but it couldn’t be helped.

We’ve got a fairly major post coming up that’s going to change a lot around here so watch for that. Hope everyone is being safe and healthy.

Our First Friday in September will be the coolest damn s**t Fredericksburg has ever seen. Local abstract musicians, Alec Sullivan & Friends are stepping outside the box & constructing a totally new & wholly different film score to accompany Kurt Russel’s iconic and tense performance in John Carpenter’s suspenseful, claustrophobic, sci-fi horror classic. Circa 1982. Rated R.

$5 suggested (strongly suggested) donation to the musicians for taking this epic soundscape on! We are taking reservations from now until September 1st. We have 30 spots available- DM us on any social media to reserve a spot to scrunch up on the floor with us all while Alec & Friends take us on an auditory journey through this weird snowy alien movie.

Game Night is canceled for tonight so that we can attend a local film screening we were invited to.

Also, we sorta have two game nights now. Monday nights we play D&D, Thursday we play retro games, Raspberry Pie, sega, or nintendo64 & or boardgames/cardgames- sometimes PS4 when it’s around. Come hang out & play, listen & watch or just shoot the s**t with us since you’ll be downtown eating Benny’s anyway. Outside food and drink, puppies & pet snakes are always welcome too.
We’re having a damn good time with the new possibilities that chaos has thrown at us. We can finally get rid of all the crap we were just trying out, and focus on the crap that actually inspires us. We’re loving these game nights with all our new, & old, sweet & nerdy pals.

Chaos is a force that can be harnessed and ridden- for better or worse. And riding the waves of chaos is what we do best.

Our entire building is for sale! Whoa! What!? So what’s going to happen to EAM?

Well guys.. we have tumultuous lives that pull us away from the shop all the time anyway. We’re rarely open, and have never been into sitting behind that counter just waiting for pedestrians to stroll in. It’s boring and you meet a LOT of do**he bags.. and sometimes dudes drag knives across your neck and you just gotta go back in the next day. Which is some ‘ol bulls**t. So to be honest we roll with change pretty well and are excited about the prospect of using this as an opportunity to realign our business with our passions once more. We’re going to shift our focus back into the creative work.

Come to us for Art classes and Avant-garde events. Artwork will still be on the walls and for sale, but only during events and classes. So.. if you are trying to claw your way into some recognition.. we are not, and never have been the place for you. We’re here to share ideas, teach people, and broaden the horizons of curious, creative people.
So we don’t really know what the future holds for EAM, but we’re super into the mystery of it all and can’t wait to find out. Wherever the chaos takes us.. we’ll find a way to take all of you with us too, if you’re into the journey.

FYI guys; there will be no game night tonight. Sorry about that. Couldn’t be helped.

But the good news is starting next game night we will have a fancy retro gaming console hooked up with a crap load of games on everything from the NES to the PS1 available to play to your hearts’ content. See you then!

It’s Thursday!
Which is Game Night at the studio.

Odd card games, strange board games, retro video games, and even an on-going D&D game! Stop by to watch/listen to a secret nerdy world play out before you, and if you’re interested sign up to be part of the next D&D quest!!! (We go live on IG stories during our D&D quests! Tune in around 6:30pm.)

We have a variety of games lasting from about 20 minutes to an hour. So grab a nerd friend & some grub from Nader’s and pop by to roll a dice or two.

Neither of us owners had ever played D&D until this past month. Our DM is the kindest, most awesome person on the planet, we discovered him behind a drum set and mic at the New Type concert in the studio this summer. He is patient and understanding, so if you’ve been curious about D&D, this is a great way to finally find out if you’ll like it.
