The word LISTEN contains the same letters as the word SILENT. All too often, we get caught up in wanting to learn things too fast. Do not be fooled, there is no fast track when it comes to music. Whether you’re learning a new song, jamming with friends, or writing a part, listening is the number one skill that will take you from zero to her, no matter the musical situation. If you can’t hear it, chances are you can’t really play it. With an open mind, an open heart, and open ears, you got this!

Today’s we are busting 3 myths that circulate the music community often. They are:
1) Tone is all in the fingers.
2) You need all of the gear to make good music.
3) You can fix it in post.

If you come across these pieces of “advice”, rest assured that they are NOT pieces of advice at all, but are perspectives given from a place likely different than your own. Tone comes from every piece of gear you use as well as your hands. You only need the RIGHT gear to make good music. You cannot “fix it in post” if your recording sucks.

What tips are you interested in hearing more about? Let me know in the comments! And as always, keep on playing y’all.

Coming back after a break is always nice. For today’s I want to show something I utilize quite often when playing over a major chord or when writing a bright/major feeling part. This concept of playing simple shapes through multiple octaves is super useful, and as always, keep on playing!
