We are stronger together. ❤
AFF is proud to announce that New Spire Arts will join ranks with the Weinberg Center for the Arts to pave the way for the catalyzation of the downtown Theater District. Unification of the two venues will fulfill the AFF vision of the building serving as a powerful investment in the local arts community.
This exciting next act for the presenting space will ensure that the arts continue to thrive downtown and that the theater continues to serve as an incubator space for the Frederick community & its artists.
“This is a perfect example of what makes Frederick so special,” remarked Leigh Adams, Executive Director of the Ausherman Family Foundation. “The Theatre District is an essential economic driver for our community, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with the City’s Weinberg Center for The Arts on this next chapter.
Tomorrow and Saturday be sure to catch the opening weekend of Landless Theatre Company's production of School of Rock The Musical!
"Rock got no reason, rock got no rhyme…You better get me to school on time!"
Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock is based on the hysterical movie about Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?
School of Rock - The Musical, with its sensational live kids’ rock band, is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music. May the spirit of rock be with all who pledge allegiance to Lloyd Webber’s newest hit!
For the safety of our cast, crew, and patrons, all audience members will be required to wear masks for the performance.
This Friday and Saturday, join Landless Theatre Company for their production of Laughter on the 23rd Floor and laugh your pants off in the comedy writer's room! Inspired by Neil Simon's youthful experience as a staff writer on Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows, this ensemble comedy features all the attendant comic drama as the harried writing staff frantically scrambles to top each other with gags while competing for the attention of star madman Max Prince.
Please Note: For the safety of our cast, crew, and patrons, all audience members will be required to wear masks for the performance.

New Spire Arts inspires creative engagement from all facets of the community by providing programming and education in, about, and through the performing arts.
Started in 2016 with a catalyzing grant from the Ausherman Family Foundation, New Spire Arts strives to remove barriers to the performing arts and bring opportunities to all ages and abilities. New Spire Arts aims to cultivate a vibrant arts community and activate downtown with our two buildings, New Spire Stages and New Spire Spaces.
New Spire Stages (15 W Patrick St)
The newest addition to Downtown Frederick’s Theatre District, New Spire Stages will open in Summer 2018. The plans include a flexible black box theatre that seats up to 250 people and an ampithteatre that serves as an informal performance and community gathering space.
New Spire Studios
Built in 1901 as the Female High School, the building at 115 E Church St has also served as the Board of Education headquarters and host of Art-o-matic. Now, as New Spire Studios, it serves as our education building where we provide workshops and classes in music, movement, multimedia, and theatre for all ages and abilities. The first floor opened in June 2017, and the other three floors, including a gymnasium on the third floor, will be renovated after the completion of New Spire Stages.
