So grateful that my skirt troupe is up for anything I throw at them. For Art of the Belly" Belly Dance Festival in Ocean City, MD this year I threw a new prop at them and they crushed it! I had so much fun performing this set with them.
Winter White Hymnal was a song I had been wanting to choreograph for a while, and when several of my troupemates brought it up, I thought, let's do it! I loved the challenge of incorporating the rounds into the choreo and still make it look cohesive.
For Mayas, I loved incorporating the Divine Chaos Fusion Collective technique to create a high energy, dynamic piece. Its so helpful when everyone already knows all the combos!
And for Hop Hop Hop, I was so enthralled by this song when I first heard it. I couldn't get it out of my head and wanted to create something that felt like community, like a group of dancers just getting together and vibing out. The tambourines were a new element that I really enjoyed tying in with the skirt work.
These were hard numbers and the troupe worked their tails off to get them ready in time and I couldn't be prouder. Just makes my heart burst watching them. I'm so lucky to get to dance with this awesome group!
