Anyhow, I fly out for work next week and this week leading up to it will be super busy. Can't wait to return and have proper time to get back into the outdoors multiple days a week.

Meanwhile I've been thinking about my next steps in creativity, this platform (I'm talking IG here, not fb really but let's post the thoughts anyhow), and what I want do with myself/photography/artwork going forward. While I continue to hate this platform daily, bc when you open it, it's filled with more bs than the people I follow, I have been thinking about my next steps. I think it's time for me to start building the community I've thought about for quite a while. It's scary because the next venture might be time consuming, but I think it would be good and more beneficial then scrolling through brain rot and watching the internet debate over if a post is Ai or not. I know my people, my people are artist and creatives and we'd rather share our work and appreciate it rather than defend and debate about whether you did it or not.

Anyhow,that was a mouthful 😅 Stay tuned for what comes next. And while I know (not sure if yall know), you can actually navigate to a timeline on IG where you can view the people you follow in chronological order like the good Ole days, it sucks that IG basically buries it and makes you search for it to get to the things you actually want to see. I just want to open this app and see the people I follow first, not later down the line after the ads and what IG thinks I want to view. Ban the algorithm! 😅

Looking for something exciting to see on this app, where everyone posts the same thing. Nothing feels original anymore, it's all just copied. People chasing the algorithm. Can't wait for social media to hit a true reset and for people to go back to originality.

Unless your content is meant to be a reel or a carousel, I don't want to see it. I don't want nine pictures with text slapped over each photo. Every creator, literally stating the same things in their niche world, just using slightly different words.

Show me what you created this week, like this guy standing sentry on his mound at golden hour. Let me look in awe at what you captured, created, and poured your heart into.

Happy Friday, yall! Just over here thinking about the elk rut season and how I haven't been able to get out bc I've been traveling for work/personal too much 😭 It's okay, I hate the traffic is causes in the park , which I do want to showcase one day, so I won't be adding to that. Maybe I'll take a weekday off to get out during the day and see them when things are much less crowded.

This little guy dies if it gets too hot.

Not from a predator. Not from a fall. American pikas can overheat and die from direct sun exposure above about 78°F, which is wild for an animal that lives at 12,000+ feet in the Rockies.

That's why they're constantly moving between shade and sun in short bursts, and why they spend the ice-free months in a frenzy. No hibernation, so every trip out is for stockpiling a "haypile" of grass and wildflowers to survive winter under the rocks.

It's also why researchers watch pikas closely as an early-warning species for a warming alpine zone. They can't move much higher than they already are.

Caught this one mid-haul, pausing just long enough for the 200-600mm to do its job before it vanished back into the talus.
