AAW DTO #6: My name is Destiny but most of my friends call me “Des.” I am currently in Dance Company(2nd year!), Tech/Rep II and Movement Lab. Of all four years, my favorite memory would be jumping into our welcome assembly with only one week to prepare. I loved how we really came together to prepare for the stage and I feel like that made the relationship amongst our peers and Miss Jenny stronger. Enjoy my take over!

AAW Dance Department

Arts Academy in the Woods is a charter “magnet” high school founded in 2001 allowing students to explore and refine the arts while focusing on academics. The AAW Dance program provides quality instruction to further develop and challenge the minds and bodies of individuals through the technique and artistry of dance. Our tiered program allows dancers to explore technique (Ballet, Modern/Contemporary, Jazz and Tap), choreography, improvisation, dance-making, and history in a variety of dance styles while nurturing a deeper understanding of their individual anatomy to promote safe practice and optimum training. In addition, students are granted opportunity to experience the larger dance community by working with guest artists, taking master classes, collaborating and performing with local college and university dance programs and attending both pre-professional and professional concerts.
