Vagabond Newsletter
May 2018

Dear Campers,
Our May campout was at Happy Holiday in Cherokee. There were 9 people attending. George and I had our old favorite site and loved the settiing more than ever. Joe and Donna were next to us and Suzie and Mike were next to Laura and Steve over on the lake. Terry came for the days. All was just wonderful.

The campout in June at Timberlake is coming up soon. You are going to love this place. It is truly camping at its finest.
There is a little bit of a tight turn when entering, but Dawn can meet you there and guide you in to your site. Just call her.
She has assured me that they have many, many large rigs going in and out.

Please bring your wedding photo or any old photo.

Kindly let me know if you can attend.

Sincerely, Lillian Nauheimer

Vagabond Newsletter - Sept. 14, 2016
Hi Vagabonds,
Sorry, I have not sent a newsletter in a while. Things have been hectic here lately.
Our campout was just great with about 26 people attending. We occupied the entire loop on that end of the lake.
It was the hottest ever with temps in the 90's and no breezes at all.
Pot luck was real good as usual and one dish better than the next.
Of course the social hours are always enjoyable with drinks and snacks and a few laughs. Thank you to Gary and Steve for entertaining us all with some tunes and also to Suzie for singing along.
George made a fire once or twice to keep bugs away, but really too hot for that. On Saturday we went out for dinner to the Mexican place nearby. Thanks to all for helping to make it a wonderful weekend.
Looking forward to the next campout at Riverbend. Our site # B2.

2016 VAGABOND CAMPING SCHEDULE

To Prospective members:

Please let us know if you are attending a campout. We look forward to meeting & greeting you soon.

Please copy, save and print the schedule as I may not always have the capacity to send it to you.

Every year when I research to prepare our schedule, I try to find new, interesting and different places along with some repeat campgrounds. This year, I found that most places required a three night minimum during their peak season. Only 2 or 3 camps would block some sites for us and all the others require that you make a reservation ASAP and leave a deposit. So, I tried to work around that problem while still picking nice camps to stay at. The following campgrounds need to have a reservation called in as soon as you can if you want to be assured of a site.

Our campouts will usually take place on the second weekend of the month April to November on Friday & Saturday. However, you may go earlier or stay later if you like. Some campgrounds will block & hold some sites for us for a short time. In any case you should call and make your own reservations early and ask to be put with the Vagabonds if possible. Or, you may pick your own site if you care to as well. Please check their websites if available, for information and directions, etc. Some campgrounds suggest that not all GPS, Map Quest, Google Maps, etc. give correct directions for RV’s and it is always best to call for directions.

April 9th to 16th - We are calling this “Vagabonds on Vacation” as this is a little out of the ordinary weekend campout. Most folks have their reservations in place by now. We will be there from 4/9 to 4/16. We plan on taking some tours of the area. Ex: Harbor Cruise tour, city bus tour, mansion tour, naval museum, ride to see the ocean and dining out.
Oak Plantation Campground, 3540 Savannah Hwy, Charleston (Johns Island), SC 29455 Phone: 843-766-5936 toll free: 866-658-2500 Many tours of the Charleston area are available. Please see their website or previous emails sent out with info on this campout.

Vagabond Newsletter - 2015

Hi Campers,
The campout last weekend at Smoky Bear in Gatlinburg, Tn. was real nice. In attendance were the following: Nancy & John, Kieth & Vicky, Lillian & George, Suzie & Mike, Claire & Chris and Terri.
The weather was mostly sunny, but brisk and cool at night. Not for sitting out for sure.
Nancy and John cooked the Turkey to perfection and we thank them for doing such a super awesome job. All the side dishes were equally as awesome and provided quite a spread with great a variety to choose from. Thank you too, to all that helped clean up.
Chong and Barry were great hosts as usual and on Sunday they made egg omelettes for everyone in the campground.
We wish safe travels to all that will be on the road traveling to warmer weather over the winter. Hope to see everyone in the Spring and the start of our new season which starts in April.
Please send me some ideas for campgrounds to put on the schedule which I will have ready in Feb or March.
Don't forget to make reservations to join the "Vagabonds on Vacation" in Charleston, SC in April 2016. Call me for details if you are interested.
I will get in touch if we meet for lunch over the winter.
Feel better, to all of you that have been ailing.
See photos below.
Sincerely, Lillian Nauheimer - The Vagabonds
