The American Place Casino Summer Sweeper series rolls on as we are nearing the halfway point of the summer already, and from the looks of things, we are just beginning to heat up! ๐ฅ๐ฅ Week #6 saw the return of the Mulligan feature, where bowlers could choose one time to re-bowl their most recently completed frame, and could purchase a second one for $5. All of the Mulligan money was collected as a donation to Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin - Southeastern , and we are proud to say that we raised another $175 for our total this year! Thank you to the bowlers who bought an extra Mulligan and to those that generously donated additional funds!
This week saw us reach our entry limit for an event, a full 60 bowlers! We had a wait list going as well for this one, so be sure to get a hold of us to get your spot each week, as the bowlers are coming out in full force to win all the great prizes! Qualifying for this round had a very exciting moment, as Steven Brinkman covered the 7-10 split! If you want to see the clip of that moment, head over to the $2 Phil & Ten On The Deck Productions page and check it out. Assisting on the call was LeeAnn Meier , as she was our guest in the booth this week!
Our cut number this week was 655, which needed a one-ball roll off to make the top-18, and Steve Bequest was able to get the better of Steve Bulanda in that one. The Kegel Middle Road pattern started to break down differently for many players, causing some very close games to make the cuts towards the finals. In the end, our final four of the evening were Scott Wilterdink, Emma Johnson, Todd Drouillard, and Gordon Kroman. These finals started out with no one able to square up the pocket early, but everyone made adjustments and then the strikes started flying! Emma used her final $5 Mulligan to re-bowl a frame and start a strike streak, and it was almost enough to carry her to victory, but Gordon had other plans. He took advantage of a few breaks, punched the 10th, and claimed his first ever sweeper victory Ian his first finals appearance! Well done Gordon! Emma took 2nd, Todd grabbed 3rd, and Scott finished in 4th. All the finalists got a SummerFest ticket and Sean Paul concert passes as well!
Our main event standings are starting to get very interesting, as the top-5 had a shakeup this week:
19 points - Dartanion Sellers
13 points - Steve Bequest
10 points (tie) - Ben Medina and Todd Drouillard
9 points - Jayden Kenney
The scratch division is really anyone's game, and will likely come down to the final week!
261 points (tie) - Ben Medina and Leo Voss
249 points - Steve Bequest
240 points - Jayden Kenney
234 points - Steve Bulanda
The senior division has a LOT of bowlers right on the verge of being in the money, and will be a fun chase to watch!
67 points - Steve Bequest
53 points - Robert Kenney
48 points - Chris Hoffmann
42 points - John Halaska
40 points - Lori Grisanti Exner
39 points - 2-way tie
36 points - 4-way tie ๐ฎ
Thank you everyone for coming out this week and making it an event to remember with a full 60 bowlers! Let's do it again next week, as we welcome Matt Urban Racing #48 into the booth once again for our final event of the first half! ๐๏ธ๐
