Please read these sincere words…

After closing Altered Frequencies in its original capacity and taking time to reflect, I'd like to address two matters.

Firstly, I owe some of you a sincere apology. Several artists, friends, and government officials poured their hearts into helping make Altered Frequencies what it became. Melissa and I kept the decision to close AF to ourselves until the announcement, which may have seemed insensitive or lacking transparency. However, our reasoning was genuine - we wanted everyone to enjoy the venue until the end. We believed that sharing our decision would have led to attempts to find alternative solutions, which we had already explored, exhaustively. I apologize if the closure and announcement hurt anyone, making them feel unappreciated or unconsidered.

Secondly, we plan to revitalize Altered Frequencies as our home and a community gathering space, free from the pressures of capitalism. We envision a "third space" where friends, family, and community can come together for various events without admission fees or sales pressure. While artists and vendors may sell merchandise or art, the focus won't be on profit. With your help, we hope to host birthday parties, holiday parties, movie nights, poetry nights, dinner parties, game nights, comedy shows, live music concerts, and more - all without the burden of consumerism. As living expenses become increasingly challenging, we want our home to be a haven for connection and joy.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the closure of our love child, Altered Frequencies.

Although it may have been a rough birth filled with negative speculation and government bodies seemingly striving to abort, Altered Frequencies slowly grew into a place we all came to need and love. The memories created here will forever hold a special place in our hearts, even in closure. We want to express our deepest gratitude for the camaraderie, laughter, and shared moments that made Altered Frequencies a community. Each one of you played a role in creating the special atmosphere that was genuinely present here. As we say goodbye to this chapter of our lives, we want you to know that the memories will last forever, becoming a cherished part of our personal histories. While Altered Frequencies may cease to exist physically, its spirit lives on in the friendships formed, the music played, and the stories shared.

To our dear friends, your unwavering support fueled Altered Frequencies and turned it into a haven of shared experiences. Each and every one of you brought life to its walls, contributing to the unique creativity that defined this special place.

To the talented artists who graced its stages, your artistry will continue to resonate in the broader creative landscape. We pledge our ongoing support to your future endeavors, ensuring that the echoes of Altered Frequencies persist in the work you produce.

To our governing bodies, we appreciate the challenges faced and the efforts made. Your role in this journey has not gone unnoticed, and we extend our gratitude for the shared moments of understanding and collaboration.

As we turn this page, we look forward to new beginnings.

A reality I wish to live, filled with love and hope; a future filled with life and fun and friends, a relationship based on commitment and security and unending s*x. What is Altered Frequencies?

Altered Frequencies is the realization of a dream that I never knew I had. All of this started as a back entry into my home that quickly became what people are appropriately referring to as the Stairway to Heaven (lol). The vision just kept growing and I couldn’t turn away from it for long. I tried again and again to put the AF dream on the back burner in order to breathe life back into my suffering plumbing business, to no avail. A destructive, ongoing divorce has reminded me that the universe knows best, and has turned my focus to this dream, which becoming not only a reality, but a necessity.

It’s taken every cent we’ve earned, every cent we could borrow, and every second of time and effort we could muster, but we are here. The stage is almost done, the outdoor, open air, VIP box is ready, our state-of-the-art sound system is dialed-in and waiting to go boom, and our lighting system is hung and patiently waiting to illuminate the night with magic and wonder.

We have big plans for Altered Frequencies, well beyond phase one. We still need to finish our permanent outdoor bathroom, our double-level, outdoor, rooftop dining, and the side stage VIP seating. In addition, we hope to purchase the other half of the building we occupy from our long time partner and friend, which would allow us to move forward with our plans for a commercial kitchen and a small 3 barrel brewery to satisfy the needs of the venue. We would also like to invest in a recording studio that would allow local and traveling musicians to tighten their sound and produce their music.

We’ve come a long ways at AF in a short amount of time and have found comfort and solace in our small piece of heaven known as Franklin, NC. We hope to share this seemingly secret town and the beauty of these Smoky Mountains that it sits nestled in, to the world. AF is a small piece of the puzzle that we believe will help Franklin become the beacon of life, community, and hope that we know it is. 📷🏼📷️ JimBo
