A friend who is a contractor is constructing his personal residence for the last time and has asked us to install a weathered copper standing seam roof on the porch. The low pitch of the roof makes it particularly well-suited for standing seam roofing. Custom flashings have been created for the areas where shingles meet metal, as is typical for this type of project. Since flashings are usually specific to each job, it is generally more economical to have them made to specifications rather than trying to adapt standard-sized pieces. Black 3 foot wide metal roofing with a full chimney wrap! In preparation for the new metal roof, we removed the existing shingles, the old guttering system, and replaced the rotten plywood and fascia. The new fascia, as well as some of the original fascia, was painted. The old gutters were not removed when the house was repainted, resulting in the original fascia retaining its original color behind the gutter. We framed around the chimney and installed the same metal panels as siding. A custom chimney cap with a roof system was built to keep the chimney dry for a long time. Another home is now protected from the elements! How can we help you?

Initially, our plan for this residence involved replacing the cricket behind the chimney and addressing some rotten wood. However, upon further inspection, it became clear that a total chimney rebuild was necessary. The roof flashings surrounding the chimney were not installed correctly, causing leaks that resulted in the complete rotting of the counter-levered supports. In addition to the chimney rebuild, we will also be installing new siding and painting to ensure a seamless finish without requiring the homeowner to wait for another contractor. This situation highlights the potential consequences of a single incorrectly installed flashing on a roof.

At KL Metals, we adopt a comprehensive approach to addressing problems. During re-roofing installations, we regularly replace rotten wood and maintain transparent communication with homeowners through photographic updates throughout the project. When selecting a roofing company, it is essential to pose questions to the representative. These images demonstrate our in-house crew's expertise in woodwork, as they prepare the roof deck for metal roofing. The photograph featuring the air conditioning unit showcases a complete rebuild, addressing a long-standing leak in this area. Our team replaced the entire roof structure and constructed a suitable platform for the AC unit. Additionally, we replaced rotten fascia behind the guttering and installed new metal fascia, as well as 6-inch K-style gutters.

The image with the skylights highlights a structure built over a large window well, which originally featured plastic skylight panels. Over time, these panels had cracked and broken, prompting us to rebuild the entire roof structure because of rotten wood and install Galvalume metal roofing, and fit skylights to provide natural light to the area.
