FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: “Eyes of Freedom” Military Tribute Traveling to Prairie Creek Park for 4th of July Weekend

Frankfort, IN (June 10, 2026) — The City of Frankfort will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026, and is honored to announce the “Eyes of Freedom” tour is now part of the lineup of events. The traveling memorial will be on display at Prairie Creek Park from July 2-5. The display is free to visit and open to the public.

The tour honors the service and sacrifice of all who answer our nation’s call with an exhibit featuring eight large oil paintings by Ohio artist Anita Miller portraying 23 fallen men of Lima Company 325, a Marine Reserve Unit based in Columbus, Ohio. The unit deployed to the Middle East, and in the summer of 2005, gave the ultimate sacrifice during the Iraq War.

Dates: July 2nd thru July 5th
Time: 11:00am to 7:00pm
Location: Prairie Creek Park; 260 E. Washington Street, Frankfort, IN 46041

“This powerful exhibition is coming to Frankfort at such a historic time and giving our community this unique opportunity to rally around our country’s service men and women,” said Mayor Judy Sheets. “It’s an honor to host this emotional display, and I believe we will all learn from it.”

The “Eyes of Freedom” tribute opened in 2008 at the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda and now travels the country. In addition to the life-size paintings, a bronze sculpture, “Silent Battle,” serves as the exhibit centerpiece, artistically addressing veteran mental health and su***de prevention.

In addition to the tour, the City will be marking the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration with the Parks Department’s annual 4th of July Festival at TPA Park. Frankfort Main Street kicks off the patriotic weekend with “Thursday Thunder,” a cruise-in car show on July 2 at Veterans Park in downtown Frankfort.
