We added a little flare to the garden this year. Cucamelon! And I almost pulled them out. I planted after the last frost, after starting them inside as seedlings. They stayed green and alive, but did NOTHING. No growth, no flowers, no fruit. It was disappointing. But I left them alone.
Then as soon as it got super hot and humid, they took off! Started vining and climbing like crazy. Then flowering, and now actually fruiting. We tried our first one today and it was delicious. Looks like a grape sized watermelon but tastes like a salted cucumber. Very cool. Can’t wait for more.
