IT'S GETTING DARK IN HERE!

The stage is set, the props are placed, and the costumes are pressed; we're ready to open the second show of our 58th season: "Wait Until Dark" by Frederick Knott, modernized by Jeffrey Hatcher! Our small audience during the final dress was thrilled by this new spin on the classic suspense story, and we know you will be too!

We have a few choice seats remaining for tonight's opening performance, and the rest of the weekend is filling up quickly! Make sure to visit www.redbarntheatre.net or call our box office at (765) 659-1657 to reserve your tickets for this exciting production!

And don't forget, NHK Opening Nights are extra special! Jason and Gibson Wells will take to the Heather's Flowers Stage at 6:15 to entertain our audiences before the show, Caramelot will be on location selling their famous treats, and everyone will receive a themed cookie from Gina VanSickle on their way to their vehicles! The Cellar will be open, Glover’s Ice Cream will be for sale, and plenty of Red Barn merch is still available so you can take a piece of the experience home with you! It's going to be a great night, and we can't wait to see you there!

MUSIC ON THE LAWN - WEEK THREE

On Wednesday evening, June 24th, NHK OPENING NIGHTS will feature a talented father and son duo, JASON and GIBSON WELLS. A self-taught blues and rock guitarist, vocalist and leader of The Jason Wells Band, JASON has recorded eight albums and become a fixture of the Midwest music scene. GIBSON is a professional guitarist, bassist, drummer and singer/songwriter who enjoys studio work as both an audio engineer and producer for other artists.

The GEM CITY DRIFTERS will make their second appearance of the year on HEATHER’S FLOWERS MUSIC STAGE on Thursday, June 25th. The popular Americana duo features Jer Lile on guitar and vocals and Red Barn alumnus Katie (Trees) Kercheval on violin, mandolin and vocals.

After getting “rained out” last week, we’re hoping for sunshine this Friday June 26th when THE JACKS will make their first appearance of the season. The duo of “Big Al” Whiteman on guitar and vocals and vocal powerhouse Amanda Jacks on lead vocals produce a surprisingly big sound. Al and Amanda, both from Frankfort, never fail to entertain our audience with a variety of old and new hit songs.

Heather’s Music on the Lawn will feature BROTHERS N OBLIVION on Saturday, June 27th. The “Brothers” are Ben Flora (Frankfort) on guitar and vocals, percussionist Aaron Walker (Lafayette) and multi-instrumentalist Mike Eldridge (Burlington.) Brothers N Oblivion will perform a variety of songs from rock, jazz and folk artists including The Grateful Dead.

We invite everyone to come out to the Barn and enjoy these talented local performers each evening from 6:15 until 7:15. Bring a snack or picnic basket, grab a refreshing drink from The Cellar, and enjoy the music before enjoying WAIT UNTIL DARK inside.

"WAIT UNTIL DARK" - DIRECTOR INTRODUCTION

Now that we've introduced our cast of "Wait Until Dark," we want to take a moment to recognize our director, Luke McLaughlin. You learned all about him last week on our Tuesday post, and you've seen him fall up and down the stairs in the "The German Tropics." Now it's his turn in the directing chair as Mike trades off his directing duties to please our audiences in this one!

LUKE McLAUGHLIN, a born and raised Clinton County native, is back for his 13th season at the Red Barn Summer Theatre and 10th as the Associate Artistic Director. Luke is a 2014 graduate of Ball State University, where he earned degrees in theatrical directing and digital film production. Though Luke has an ever-growing list of favorite theatrical roles, a few highlights include Robert in Boeing, Boeing, Mayor Josiah Dobbs in Bright Star, Igor in Young Frankenstein, and Jack in last summer’s production of Leading Ladies. When not on stage or directing at the Barn, Luke teaches Language Arts and Theatre at Clinton Prairie Jr./Sr. High School, serves on the board of directors for CCCT, and produces films with his production company, Sweet Yams Productions. Luke would like to thank his wife, Ellen, his fur-son, Jack, and his family for their undying support in all things theatre.

"WAIT UNTIL DARK" - CAST INTRODUCTIONS!

This morning, we introduced the first three members of our cast: Eloise Brown, Abi Hampton, and Aaron Moon, but we can't forget the rest of our incredible cast!

MICHAEL J TAYLOR, originally from Fishers and a graduate of Ball State in Theatre Studies and Telecommunications, is back for his 10th season as Artistic Director. Michael is the co-founder of both Sweet Yams Productions and the 11th Hour Theatre Company of Sidney, Ohio. He is a published playwright and an award-winning screenwriter. Michael wrote and directed the original musical review, Unexpressed: The Songs of John Bucchino, which would go on to play in New York. Michael is currently the Director of Theatre at Frankfort High School, where he has directed several musicals and plays including “Noises Off,” "Jekyll and Hyde,” and “Bonnie and Clyde.” Also an experienced actor, Michael has played a number of characters, but a few of his favorites would include Lenny in Rumors, Stanley in Streetcar, and Nathan Jessup in A Few Good Men. Michael would like to thank the Company for all of their hard work and of course his family for their love and support.

MATTHEW REICH recently graduated with highest honors from the BFA Musical Theatre program at Nebraska Wesleyan and is thrilled to return to the Barn for his second summer! Selected credits include Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Clarke in The Cottage, Trunchbull in Matilda, Pericles in Pericles, Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, and Macduff in Macbeth. This fall, he also takes on the title role in Shakespeare’s Coriolanus. He is forever grateful to his parents, to Ashley, and to his acting coach, Kurt.

BEN BRICKNER is excited to return for his second season at the Barn! Originally from Ralston, Nebraska, Ben currently resides in Chicago, Illinois. He recently graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Some of his favorite roles include Sonny in Xanadu, Pippin in Pippin, Trent Oliver in The Prom, Luke in The Lightning Thief, The Percy Jackson Musical, and Danny in Grease. Ben would like to thank his family, friends, and his girlfriend, Kody, for their constant love and support.

INTRODUCING THE CAST OF "WAIT UNTIL DARK!

It's hard to believe, but tonight we go into tech for the second show of our 58th season, "Wait Until Dark!" We announced the cast on Saturday, but we want to make sure each of these incredible performers gets the introduction they deserve. So, without further ado, here is the first post featuring the incredible cast of "Wait Until Dark!"

ELOISE BROWN (Susan) is a New York–based actor, singer, and dancer currently pursuing her BFA in Acting with a minor in Music at Brooklyn College. Favorite recent credits include Pippin (Dance Captain/Swing), The Thin Place (Sylvia), and Xanadu (Kira/Clio). She has also enjoyed expanding her performance work into voiceover artistry with New Victory Theater and additionally trains through The Barrow Group for film and TV. You may recognize Eloise from her Red Barn debut at Elle in "The German Tropics." “Thank you for supporting live theatre, and see you on stage!”

ABIGAIL HAMPTON is excited to join the Barn family as Wait Until Dark marks Abi's first appearance at the Red Barn Summer Theatre. Abi just completed her freshman year at Frankfort High School. At school, she is involved in multiple activities and clubs: The Fortissimo Show Choir, Cheerleading, and Theatre. Abi was last seen on stage in Sister Act: The Musical as Sister Mary Robert. Abi would like to thank her friends and family for their support, and especially Mr. Mac for giving her this opportunity!

AARON MOON first worked at the Red Barn from 1990 to 2000 before taking the technical skills he’d learned from his decade on the boards to work at theatres in Atlanta, Bloomington, the Twin Cities, and New York. After finding success all across the country, he eventually found his way home; Aaron’s current tenure with the Red Barn began in 2013. In recent seasons, you may remember Aaron as the neurotic, but lovable, Felix in The Odd Couple, the egotistical, hapless director, Christopher Belling in Curtains, or as the fun-loving magician Francis the Ordinary in the world premiere Keep the Change.

The cast and crew of "The German Tropics" take their final bow this afternoon! Thank you to everyone who made the first show of our season such a roaring success!

FRIDAY, ALREADY?

For those of us who have been a part of the Red Barn company for many years, the three-day break from "The German Tropics" felt downright wrong. It was great to get back into the swing of things last night, and we were greeted by another wonderful audience! But since we canceled Wednesday, it's somehow already Friday! Apparently, that's how days work, or so we're told. We only have three performances left before we jump into "Wait Until Dark" next week! Crazy!

This weekend is your final chance to catch Michael Taylor's hilarious world premiere, and tickets are limited. Below are the seating maps for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. But don't fret, if you miss out on the few remaining seats, there are more seats available by calling the box office. Reach out to Natalie and her team by calling (765) 659-1657 for more details!

We can't wait to see you at the theatre this weekend for the closing of the first show of our 58th season!

"PUT ME ON THE FRONTLINES TOMORROW" - NICK MONTGOMERY

Artistic Director Michael Taylor received a text from 2026 company member Nick Montgomery last night. He'd visited our local Walmart, purchased boots for last night's storms, and requested to be on the front lines in our lawn recovery efforts. What turned into a silly request came into fruition this morning as Nick helped Luke get the pumps ready in the West lot, ankle-deep in rainwater. (Pictures below for evidence!) We do more than just act at the Red Barn; our company members are the total package. We appreciate Nick's willingness and readiness to get dirty on the job!

So, Nick and the rest of the company arrived bright and early this morning to inspect the lot after a night of heavy rain and strong winds. Though the lot was pretty wet and quite a few branches were down, overall, we were lucky with how the storm treated us last night. Most of the water had receded and no trees were down. Most importantly, we have no structural damage, and no one got hurt.

The company went to work pumping, spreading stone and sand, and bucketing water out of the lot for tonight's performance. We are all systems go for tonight's performance! It's a little wet, so we ask the following of our patrons:

- Please drive slow when you get here this evening. The lawn is in pretty good shape after this morning's efforts, but we still need to preserve it as well as we can for the rest of the summer. With more rain in the forecast this weekend, we're being as proactive as we possibly can be.

- Once you arrive, please stick to the gravel paths and sidewalks when walking to the preshow music and into the theatre. We want to keep your feet as dry as possible!

- When possible, try to carpool. If you are coming with a group this evening or know of someone else attending the performance, reach out to see if you can combine vehicles. We can accommodate a full lot of cars, but fewer vehicles allow us to keep a wider berth around the remaining wet spots.

We're excited to see at this evening's performance of "The German Tropics!" Still need tickets? Visit www.redbarntheatre.net or call the box office at (765) 659-1657!

WE'RE UNDER WATER - TONIGHT'S PERFORMANCE IS CANCELED

We hate that this is becoming a show #1 trend, but Wednesday, June 17th's performance of "The German Tropics" has been canceled. The company will be out bright and early tomorrow, pumping as much water as possible and spreading gravel, to save the lot for Thursday and this weekend.

To tonight's patrons, the Red Barn Summer Theatre would like to apologize for the endless rain over the past few weeks. The grounds just can't keep up. If we could control the weather, trust us, we would. Our main, company, and west parking lots all have several inches of standing water, and we don't want everyone wading to and from their vehicles. We don't want to cancel, but out of an abundance of caution, we have to.

Below is important information on exchanging your tickets to a new date.

Natalie and her Box Office team will be in the office today to start making phone calls to exchange tickets to new dates. If you have a phone number associated with your account, they will reach out to you.
