Here are some Raku pieces made by potter and Instructor, Lynne Kain. Raku is an atmospheric firing technique that originated in Japan. It is a process that takes the pieces out of the kiln at around 1900 degrees to change the glaze or surface with combustible materials. Learn about and even test this technique out in our September pottery class. Register for Monday Nights online. It starts on September 7!

Atmospheric firing continues into the fall with a special soda firing class and a Raku class. Check out our Japanese inspired workshop that will take place during the Japan America Society of Kentucky (JASK) festival on Sept. 12. Another downtown event that you won't want to miss will be Witches' Night Out on October. 9 where we will be open late for painters.

Do you remember those 1970's mushroom canisters? We do! Join us to create your own in our bisque painting workshop. Are you a musician or new to clay? We will be making whistles in our next hand-building workshop!

Join us for a special atmospheric firing class, Raku, that uses a traditional Japanese technique of taking the pottery out of the hot kiln at 1900 degrees to toss it into a container of combustible materials to create designs with flame reduction. We will also apply horse hair on the pieces to leave behind carbon lines.
