Today, and every day, I want to pause and honor the heroes among us, the men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. I stand in awe of your courage, your sacrifice and your unwavering devotion to something far greater than yourselves.
You didn’t just take an oath, you lived it. You chose duty over comfort, honor over ease and country over self. Whether you stood watch on a quiet night, walked patrols in faraway lands, sailed endless seas or flew missions through hostile skies, you carried the weight of freedom on your shoulders. Because of you, generations like mine have grown up in safety. Because of you, we are free to dream, to gather, to worship, to work and to live our lives in peace.
Your service isn’t defined only by the battles you fought or the medals you earned, it’s reflected in your humility, your resilience and your strength long after you returned home. You have shown me what true leadership, true sacrifice and true love of country really looks like.
To the families of our veterans, the spouses, parents, children and loved ones, I thank you as well. I know your sacrifice was quieter but no less powerful. You carried the weight of worry and uncertainty, waiting through long nights and endless days. Your support gave strength to those who served, and your courage made theirs possible.
As I look around my community, in workplaces, neighborhoods and even here in my family, I see veterans everywhere. You might not always speak of your service, but the character it built shines through in how you lead, how you care and how you live each day with purpose.
I owe you more than words. I owe you my gratitude, my respect and my promise never to take for granted the freedom you fought to defend.
So today, I honor you, not with simple applause, but with a standing ovation from my heart. I thank you for your sacrifice, your strength and your unwavering belief in the ideals that define America.
May God bless you.
May God bless your families.
And may God bless the United States of America.
