Mural panel is finished and delivered to the Memorial Building (City Hall). It represents 325 years of Framingham's landscape and environment history. All plant and animal species in it have been here at least that long. The map, with nods to historical places spanning the four centuries, shows current existing green spaces and waterways. Over that are darker green areas showing more vegetation and less population and commercial density all the way to tan which represents higher population and commercial industry. Lighter green represents a mix, and generally landscaped neighborhoods. Reading about the history of Framingham, I learned that everywhere its first crop was pine trees, followed next by corn and wheat planted everywhere. Also, river eels were more abundant and a food source. History is fascinating!
