Greetings, lovers of Missouri Day!

Shiann Garrett, here. 👋🏽
Now that the dust has settled from the news of our dear Becca’s resignation, I am asking for Volunteers to step up and help me continue on. It has been a pleasure to work beside Becca for the last 9 years and I know because I have been her sidekick, the community is looking at me to fill her shoes. However, being a mother of three young and very busy children, running a business with my husband, selling real estate, coaching multiple teams throughout the year and every thing in between… 😅… I know I cannot do this alone. In the past Becca and I have made all the decisions, organized and coordinated everything, but moving forward I would like to form a board of directors who will oversee certain events. This will prevent me from having to micromanage every single detail and allow me to still have time for all of the other things I must do. In addition to directors, I’ll need many, many others to be our muscle 💪🏽. While the Board of Directors will be planning and coordinating throughout the year, the muscle will come in the week of and help set up, run and clean up. If we have enough muscle 💪🏽 we can schedule it to where all volunteers work a short shift and then they can carry on and enjoy the rest of the weekend. This is my hope for all. It has been very hard in the past for those very few volunteers we have to actually enjoy the weekend because everyone is working themselves to death.
So I am asking those that are willing, to please reach out to me. If you are interested in being on the board to help in decision making and be in charge of your very own event, there will be an application that needs to be filled out. *Note that some of the positions have already been filled.* If you want to be the muscle, I’ll add you to my contacts and will be in touch closer to Missouri Day 2026 to get you scheduled. Some examples of jobs the “muscle” will be required to do; hang banners, set up tents, tables and chairs, put together fencing for the beer garden, run the beer gardens, pick up trash, take admission at the dances, and of course; clean it all up and store for the following year.

Change is hard and the work is plenty, so please help me make this transition as smooth as possible and continue to provide our community with this cherished tradition! 🫶🏼

Hey Folks! It's Becca Sharp. After dedicating 13 years to carrying on Fowler's cherished Missouri Day tradition, I have decided to step down as the Missouri Day Event Director. This decision was not made lightly, however, after much consideration it is in the best interests of myself and my family that refocus my efforts elsewhere.

It has been an honor to serve our wonderful community and I'm incredibly grateful to the faithful volunteers who have assisted me in making sure Missouri Day was a success year after year. I couldn't have done it without them as well as the unwavering support of the generous businesses and donors who contribute every year to keep our tradition alive. Lastly, thank you to the Fowler community who always offer a helping hand when needed and loyally show up to enjoy the weekend with us.

I have no doubt that this time honored event will continue to be a staple in our community with many volunteers who will undoubtedly step in to fill my shoes so Fowler can continue to celebrate it's heritage for many years to come! Thank you all for a wonderful experience, great memories and for trusting me to make Missouri Day Great Again!

A message from the Missouri Day Ranch Rodeo Committee:

It is our understanding that multiple spectators and contestants weren’t able to hear the announcer over the music during our ranch rodeo this afternoon. For this, we apologize, but most importantly we want to clear up some confusion on what transpired during the first mini scramble.

A freak accident occurred while the 4S Ranch was competing in this event. A steer and a horse were injured during the accident and the judges chose to enforce the lap and tap rule, which has been utilized in previous performances. When the accident occurred, the team had two animals roped and the time was stopped at 33.01 seconds. The judges chose to have the animals with ropes on come out of the cutes and they would only have 1 minute 26.99 seconds to complete the event, which they did successfully.
After the dust settled, the rodeo committee overruled the judges and called the 4S team a NO TIME in the 1st mini scramble due to injury of animals. There were no team members that were roughing the livestock, nor were there any members of the team who acted unsportsmanlike.
This is why the 4S Ranches Team only received a time on 2 events and did not place.
We apologize that this caused confusion for our Calcutta supporters, our spectators and our contestants.
The committee made a hard call that was deemed appropriate for the overall fairness and integrity of the Missouri Day Ranch Rodeo.

Congratulations to Oak Creek Cattle Company on their stellar performance! They not only won the aggregate as the only team who received a time in all three events, they also won the Wild Cow Milking and the 1st mini scramble.
Our top hand was Brian Oloman, with Oak Creek Cattle Company and our Top Horse was awarded to Jordan King’s yellow horse, with Udder Chaos.

Thank you everyone for your continued support and we can’t wait to see you all next year.

Thank you Rylie Bonjour, for writing this lovely article about this year’s Parade Marshals!!

🎉2025 Missouri Day Parade Marshals🎉

Gary and Jeanne Bates have been a huge part of the Fowler Community for years on end. They were both raised in the Arkansas Valley and have stayed for all of their lives. Gary graduated from Manzanola High School in 1971, and Jeanne graduated from the same school in 1972. Jeanne did softball during the summers, and Gary was involved in almost every sport. They dated throughout high school, making them high school sweethearts. After High School, Gary and Jeanne lived wherever the work took them, which was to Pueblo, until Gary’s family’s farm went up for sale. The farm was in Manzanola, and Gary wanted to keep up the family tradition.
Jeanne and Gary have 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren who all live around here. All of their children and grandchildren went to school in Fowler, from preschool to graduation! They love to spend their time supporting their family, whether it’s sports, academics, or just having fun. Gary and Jeanne have been there for every sports event and love every second of it. They are their family's biggest supporters; family is the most important thing to them. “Anytime that can be spent together is well spent.” Jeanne and Gary’s favorite memories of Fowler are watching their kids and grandkids graduate from high school and finding out what their futures may hold.
During all of their years spent here in town, Jeanne has worked at the Fowler Nursing Home, the Fowler School District, and at the Fowler State Bank. Gary worked at the Prison for many years before retiring. They made many close friendships with people throughout the years, at workplaces, school events, etc. Ever since they were little kids, Jeanne and Gary have gone to every Missouri Day. They even had every kid and grandkid compete in the Annual Baby Show.
What Jeanne and Gary love most about the Fowler Community is that it is one big family. Everyone knows each other and is there for each other, which is why they decided to raise their family here. They have always loved the feeling of safety and comfort of Fowler. When Gary and Jeanne were asked how they felt about being chosen as the 2025 Missouri Day Parade Marshals, they stated that they were honored to be considered and even shocked. We are blessed to have them as a part of our Fowler community!
