Casting Announcement!
Intrepidus Theatre Lab is beginning to cast artists for it’s original production When The Stranger Comes, premiering Fall 2026. A bold and provocative adaptation of Euripides’ The Bacchae, When The Stranger Comes is a fresh and raw exploration of the mythos of Dionysus and Pentheus, while maintaining the theatrical structure of Euripides’ classic tragedy.
When a Stranger arrives at the city of Thebes in order to establish the worship and rites of the new god Dionysus, young King Pentheus is faced with not only maintaining order within the city, but must come face to face with his, and his family’s, moral and spiritual crimes. An exploration of Family, Religion, Identity and S*x, When The Stranger Comes will bring the Lab back to it’s experimental, fearless theatrical roots.
Casting is underway for the pivotal roles of The Bacchae. The Lab is seeking between four and six uninhibited Women and Men, ages 21-45 to join the company as followers of Dionysus. The roles are very movement heavy, and also contain much spoken verse and dialogue, in both English and Greek. The roles also require provocative costuming and sensual situations.
Interested artists are asked to message the Lab with questions, or for more details. They can also reach out to Director and Playwright Justin John Costello here on Facebook. We hope to hear from you.
