"Scalia/Ginsburg" is Derrick Wang’s sharp-witted and unexpectedly moving opera about Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This Mother’s Day, we’re honoring the women who helped shape Fort Worth Opera from the very beginning! šŸ’

Founders Eloise MacDonald Snyder, Betty Berry Spain, and Jeanne Axtell Walker were not only arts advocates and community leaders, but mothers whose dedication helped bring opera to Fort Worth. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them!

Pictured here is founder Eloise MacDonald Snyder, who starred as Violetta in Fort Worth Opera’s very first production, "La Traviata", in 1946. Like so many mothers, these women shared their talents, leadership, and care in ways that became gifts to both the arts and the Fort Worth community around them.

Today, we celebrate the mothers who continue to inspire, create, and lead every day. Happy Mother's Day!
