Greetings! Since the hyper-sleep awakening, our vessel and crew of the Phantasmagoria have been re-connecting through abysmal depths of space travel. We have landed on a new eccentric planet, Pleasure Planet, where explorers go to research the human experience in honor of Aphrodite; goddess of pleasure, love, and beauty. We must learn to survive in this unfamiliar yet inviting habitat, to build anew among the ruins of an ancient epicurean culture, and explore the sensuous wilderness.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Suggested donation of $10. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. House of Iconoclasts is a DIY art collective based in Fort Worth, Texas. As a collective we create inclusive, interactive experiences to mesh outsider artists with live music, performance art, and site-specific installations through themed art shows. We do not charge a submission fee for our shows, nor a commission from any sold art. When you purchase art during our events, all profits go directly to the artist! ⁣⁣

The Fort Worth Police Officers Association is still pouring money into our local elections to make sure their preferred candidates stay in and get into office. Police unions came into power in the 60s and early 70s as a form of resistance to community demands for accountability over police violence. Through the years, police unions have used racist political strategies, fear tactics and candidate campaign financing to push back against any form of local, state, or federal police reform. The Fort Worth Police Officers Association continues to carry on this tradition that corrupts our local government and undermines our participatory democracy.

The Fort Worth Police Officers Association has been an agent for racist policing by always being a roadblock to growing demands from people for JUSTICE, transparency, accountability, and significant change in police practices. They have proven to condone police brutality by defending violent officers who attack our Black and Brown communities in Fort Worth, like officers William Martin and Kenneth Pierce. As long as they continue to have influence over our local representatives, we will not get the structural change in policing policy and funding transformation that we seek to protect our neighbors.

In January, we called on every incumbent to no longer take campaign contributions from the Fort Worth Police Officers Association! They ignored those demands and have continued to take money during this election: Carlos Flores – $10,000, Kelly Allen Gray – $10,000, Gyna Bivens – $10,000, Jungus Jordan – $10,000, Cary Moon – $10,000, Micheal Crain (District 3 candidate) – $5,000.

We need to take our democracy back and elect a ! All of our endorsed candidates have taken a pledge to reject endorsements and contributions from the Fort Worth Police Officers Associations. We need a city council that will put true community safety for all people of Fort Worth first!

Our endorsed candidates:
Deborah Whitlock Peoples
Jen Sarduy for Fort Worth City Council
Chris Nettles for Fort Worth City Council District 8
Dr. Jared Williams for Fort Worth City Council District 6
Tara Wilson for Fort Worth City Council District 4

Transform 1012 North Main Street, of which DNAWORKS is a co-convener, is thrilled to be the recipient of a Catalyst Grant from MASS Design Group for the project to acquire the former Ku Klux Klan auditorium in Fort Worth, TX, and transform it into a center and museum for arts and community healing. As part of the grant, MASS Design created a beautiful project brochure including this general concept rendering for how the use of the building can be adapted to return resources to the communities terrorized and marginalized by the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s. Thank you, MASS Design Group, for your beautiful work!

House of Iconoclasts, like many of us this year, have felt the stressors of 2020. So when thinking of what to show during the Collective Takeover exhibit at Fort Worth Community Arts Center we wanted to create something that expressed both the atrocities and the hope of this year. We felt From the Ashes and the symbolism of the Phoenix summed this up beautifully. ⁣⁣⁣
Cities, relationships, and communities were ablaze with fear, anger, and confusion with much to be upset about. It has been and continues to be a frightening and trying time. On the horizon, there is a glimmer of hope for healing the mind, body, and spirit. Let's all rise up from the ashes of what has transpired in 2020 to soar towards a renewed existence.⁣⁣⁣

Collective exhibitions by Art Tooth, Avant To Leave This Planet, House of Iconoclasts, Ladies N Art Show, Mañanaland, Narong Tintamusik, Third Space DFW and Vision & Verve.
