August 17, 1962.

Just weeks after Marilyn Monroe’s passing, this iconic photograph by Lawrence Schiller appeared on the cover of LIFE magazine, a moment that would become part of Marilyn’s enduring visual legacy.

Taken during the filming of Something’s Got to Give, Schiller captured Marilyn in one of her final months: luminous, effortless, and unmistakably herself.

64 years later, we’re bringing the image back to life.

Because the best photographs don’t simply live in the past. They keep finding new ways to be seen.

FORT WORKS ART ENTERS ITS NEXT DECADE WITH A NEW LEADERSHIP TEAM AND A BOLD NEW MODEL FOR FORT WORTH

After ten years of building an independent cultural force, Fort Works Art expands its leadership, national programming and partnership with Gallery of Dreams. Gallery Of Dreams

Founder Lauren Saba Lauren Saba built the gallery largely outside the conventions of the traditional gallery world, and that independence has increasingly become one of its greatest assets.

Fort Works Art is now undertaking the most significant expansion in its history, introducing a new leadership team and developing a national program of exhibitions, visiting galleries, artists and cultural collaborations designed not simply to broaden the gallery’s reach, but to change the role an independent arts organization can play in Fort Worth. The idea is both ambitious and surprisingly simple: create cultural experiences important enough that people travel to Fort Worth specifically to see them. For this, Saba has recruited one of the most consequential museum leaders in the city’s recent history to help build it.

Andrew J. Walker, Ph.D., Andrew Walker who served for fourteen years as Executive Director of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, joins Fort Works Art as Chief Curatorial and Strategic Executive, helping shape the gallery’s direction, national programming and long-term strategy. Walker’s move represents a unique convergence of two very different corners of the art world.

The expanded leadership team also includes Amy Rasor, Amy Rasor Director of Growth and Impact who has over 30 years of experience in the non-profit sector and a deep understanding and involvement in the arts in Fort Worth.

Jordyn Garca Jordyn Garca will continue to bring the exceptional level of skill and care that has made her integral to Fort Works Art as the Gallery Manager.

What emerges is not quite a gallery, not quite an institution and certainly not an art fair. That may be its advantage. For years, Fort Worth collectors have traveled elsewhere to encounter the broader art world. Fort Works Art is betting that some of the traffic can run the other direction.

Artist Jay Wilkinson Jay Wilkinson is one of the most beloved and talented artists in our City of Fort Worth . As a painter, his technique is exceptional, but so are the ideas and lived experiences behind the work. Through deeply personal paintings, Jay invites us into his world. A world shaped by creativity, passion, and a powerful ability to be fully present.

Jay began as both a sculptor and painter, and in 2014 he formed the collective Bobby on Drums with artists Jeremy Joel Jeremy Joel and Brandon Pederson Brandon Pederson . He is also a co-founder of Art Tooth Art Tooth and the founder of Dang Good Candy DANGGOODCANDY: studio/gallery , the gallery he ran from 2021–23, where he gave so many artists their first platform in our city.

If you drive around Fort Worth and Dallas, you’ll find Jay’s murals everywhere, including in the new Dallas development by M2G Ventures under the dirM2G Venturestie Murray . His public Katie Murrays and artwork are also woven throughout our own downtown, the Near Southside Near Southside, Inc. , andNear Southside, Inc.r community.

His support of this gallery has been unparalleled.

🚨🚨APPLICATION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 19, 2026

A cut in a film is a break, but it’s also where something clicks, where meaning shifts, and where a story starts to take place. As if you don’t need an explanation in the piece, art should be able to tell a story without the use of dialogue.

This is a call for work that feels cinematic.
Images that feel like stills from a larger narrative, photo series, or works that encapsulate symbols of film.
Scenes, fragments, sequences.
Moments that hold tension,
Work that suggests a story without giving it away.

The Silent Cut centers around 2-Dimensional works that feel like fragments of a larger narrative. Submissions may be staged or documentary, sequential or singular, experimental or character-driven.

We’re still thinking about this past weekend! ✨

We had the opportunity to showcase some beautiful art with Autobahn Fort Worth and Range Rover for a private house event.

With jewelry from Maison Olisa Hat fittings and designs by American Hat Company Leather branding, accessories by Wild Silks and a private cooking experience at the end of the night, we were thrilled to bring Fort Works Art into a new environment, where we can showcase our artists in unexpected ways. With a mixture of Texas tradition, the weekend captured a true sense of elevated design and community in Fort Worth.

Never did I imagine that such a young woman would have the skills, stamina, passion and love to transition from Gallery Assistant to Gallery Manager in under a year and a half.

But she has. If you don’t know her, you should. If you do know her, you are familiar with her work ethic, patience, skills, and most importantly kindness. She is a total pro and just basically a wonderful all around human being.

There are not enough words to explain all of the amazing things she has accomplished already for and . It is just incredible. We can’t wait to watch her future evolve.

Congratulations Jordyn ! We are beyond lucky to have you.
